PCB denies report suggesting venue change of Champions Trophy final 2025

Sugar mills generating over 500KW for self use not liable to pay electricity duty: SC
ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ruled that the sugar mills and others, which used private generators of more than 500KW capacity to generate electricity for self use, are not liable to pay the electricity duty on their own self use of the power/energy. It is only when these words are taken together that the taxing event can be sensibly gathered from subsection (1). It is this composite that is the taxing event. It said that the first column of the Fifth Schedule is a table that comprises of two entries. The second element of the taxing event did not apply to them and hence they are not within the levy.

Chinese engineers killed in Karachi attack were key to energy debt talks: Aurangzeb
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb disclosed on Tuesday that Chinese engineers killed in a recent suicide attack in Karachi were part of ongoing energy debt restructuring negotiations with the Pakistani government. He also claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s strike caused Rs190 billion daily loss to the economy. In a pre-recorded statement, Senator Aurangzeb said that the Chinese engineers killed in the Karachi airport attack were part of the team, which was engaged in talks with the Pakistani government over re-profiling of the energy debt. LAS launches Pakistan’s first multilingual legal advisory chatbot
LAHORE - The Legal Aid Society (LAS) has launched NAZ Assist, Pakistan’s first multilingual legal advisory chatbot, designed to provide free legal advice in English, Urdu, Sindhi, and Pashto. The chatbot utilizes insights gathered from over 450,000 logged calls for legal assistance since 2014 by the Sindh Legal Advisory Call Center (SLACC), ensuring that the advice provided is relevant to the legal landscape of Pakistan. The bot will also help make LAS more inclusive as differently-abled people who are deaf or mute can now get preliminary legal advice at a click of a button. She continued, “With the launch of NAZ Assist, we are taking a significant step towards making legal advice accessible to everyone, regardless of their background.
