Khan, Hayat rumoured to play Ms Marvel's great grandparents
Ms Marvel, the much-awaited series based on the first-ever Pakistani-American Muslim superhero, is all set to stream this year. Fawad Khan and Mehwish Hayat along with actor Nimra Bucha have been roped in to play a substantial role in Ms Marvel. While details about their upcoming roles are still not confirmed, rumour has it that Fawad and Mehwish are set to play Kamala Khan's great grandparents. Media bodies suspend dialogue with govt, call it ‘farce’

PHOTO: AFPThe Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the media bodies have taken a tough stance against the government after the amendments in the Pakistan Electronic Crime Act (PECA) 2016, calling the government's engagement with the media bodies over media laws a “farce”. “The information minister [Fawad Chaudhry] is toying with the media fraternity in the guise of engagement and keeps passing ordinances against freedom of speech while giving the impression that media fraternity is being engaged,” the statement said. Separately, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) disapproved the amendments in the PECA and demanded immediate withdrawal of the ordinance. It had said that criticism of the proposed legislation has been declared non-bailable, which is undemocratic.

Reference against ex-minister adjourned till Mar 16
ISLAMABAD – An Accountability Court on Monday adjourned hearing till March 16, in a reference pertaining illegal lease of Railways’ land against ex-federal minister Lt Gen (retd) Javed Ashraf Qazi. At the outset of hearing, the NAB prosecutor Sohail Arif submitted the death certificate of a co-accused Samad Khan before the court. After this, the hearing of the case was adjourned till March 16. AC-III Judge Syed Asghar Ali heard the reference filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The court asked the NAB to produce the accused on February 28.

He said earlier that "if Ukraine was to join NATO it would serve as a direct threat to the security of Russia." Putin has for years worked to restore Russia's influence over nations that emerged after the collapse of the Soviet Union, with Ukraine holding an important place in his ambitions. Recognition of the rebel-held areas could pave the way for Moscow to send military forces into the two separatist regions - Donetsk and Luhansk - openly and argue that it is intervening as an ally to protect them against Ukraine.
