One martyred, six injured in Peshawar suicide blast

Pakistan has decided to send its point man on Afghanistan to Kabul this week to deliver a clear message on the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), said officials in Islamabad on Tuesday. In the face of strong criticism, the Afghan interim government remains steadfast and insists that the TTP has not been operating from Afghanistan. The TTP has emerged as a major stumbling block between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban. Contrary to Pakistan’s expectations, the Afghan Taliban appear reluctant to go after the TTP. A spokesperson of the US state department said that it was the responsibility of the Afghan Taliban to not allow for their soil to be used against other countries.

Couple killed in motorcycle, tractor trolley collision in Dipalpur
A couple died when the motorcycle they were riding on was hit by a rashly driven tractor trolley in Dipalpur on late Sunday night. According to details, the accident occurred at the Pakpattan Road near Adda Dilawar Kot where a speeding tractor trolley hit a motorcycle, killing a man identified as Afzal and his wife Mumtaz Bibi on the spot. Police and rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the dead bodies to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Dipalpur. According to police, driver of the tractor trolley managed to escape from the scene after the accident.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has inaugurated a laptop scheme under the Youth Program Phase-III, through which 100,000 laptops will be distributed among top-tier university students. He highlighted the program’s importance with the words, “The laptop scheme has truly been a game-changer, leading to sterling success stories.”The image of students engrossed in their laptops is undoubtedly enticing. By 2025, Pakistan needs an additional 200,000 schools and 2.5 million teachers to accommodate approximately 25 million out-of-school children (OOSC). It is perceived that the government is utilizing the Laptop Scheme to capitalize on the youth vote bank and diminish the impact of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on the youth. The extensive advertisements featuring a smiling Shahbaz Sharif on laptop scheme brochures and posters convey a different story, far removed from the ground realities.
