Today, Tenofovir is taken daily as a pill for HIV prevention, a solution also known as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).

USAID, Lagos and others advocate improved health care for out-of-school youth in slums
The USAID Youth-Powered Ecosystem to Advance Urban Adolescent Health (YPE4AH) and the Lagos State Government have emphasized the need to improve the health and well-being of out-of-school youth in urban slums. Speaking during the launch of the USAID YPE4AH TEENSMATA tagged “Shine Well Well” campaign in Lagos, USAID YPE4AH Party leader Boladale Akin-Kolapo emphasized the need to improve youth’s skills for healthy living and planning for the future. Akin-Kolapo, represented by Daini Babajide, added that promoting a favorable social and political environment for youth health and development is paramount to achieving a healthy community. USAID YPE4AH is a five-year (May 2020 – May 2025) program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). “At the community level, the campaign will work towards training healthcare providers within the ecosystem to provide youth-friendly advice and services.

Parents express satisfaction with Abuja school over technology hub

Nigerian port traffic manager, TTP, disowns chief operating officer as crisis rocks firm
The company managing traffic in Nigerian seaports, Transit Truck Park Limited (TTP) has denied reports of a shake-up in its management two weeks after a face-off with the Truck Union Council of Maritime Transport Unions Association (COMTUA). COMTUA had accused TTP of extortion through unauthorised tolls at the port and threatened the company with a lawsuit. TTP is a company managing port traffic in Apapa and Tincan Island through its electronic call-up system, Eto. In a statement issued on Saturday, the management of TTP accused the Chief Operating Officer, Temidayo Adeboye, of trying to force a change of leadership in the company. Unilorin V-C procures 62-seater bus for school
Prof.Abdulrasheed Adeoye, the Chairman of Parent-Teachers Association (PTA), University School, University of Ilorin (Unilirin), has commended the Vice Chancellor, Prof.Sulyman Abdulkareem, for procuring a bus for the school. Adeoye said on Saturday in Ilorin that the 62-seater bus would alleviate the problem of transportation for the school. Adeoye, a former Dean of Faculty of Arts, Unilorin, noted that the vice chancellor has always supported the PTA in its activities. Mr Mas’ud Salihu, the Head Teacher of the school, announced that five pupils of the school participated in the 2021 Commonwealth Essay Competition, with Omotola Ogungbade and Muhammad Raji winning silver and bronze medals, respectively. He added that Esther Adeyeye, Ayomide Adekanye and Joy Enahoro, were awarded Certificate of Participation.

Panic as gunmen kidnap doctor in Oyo community
Gun-wielding hoodlums have again stormed Surulere Local Government Area of Oyo State and abducted a man identified simply as Dr Rasheed. The man is said to have a private clinic where he treats patients from the communities in the area.
