1 The Disciplinary Committee of the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN), has suspended one Dr Anthony Ugwu, for two years over alleged professional misconduct. 4 The Registrar said the board heard and determined a case against Ugwu, who was found guilty of contravening the code of conduct. 7 The registrar said that Ugwu was also ordered by the disciplinary committee to pay N1million to offset the incidentals incurred by the board. 8 He said that Ugwu refused to honour invitations by the Investigative Panel and Disciplinary Committee of the board and had allegedly posted several derogatory remarks about the board to a fellow senior colleague. 9 Okeji said Ugwu also had circulated an official letter of the board not addressed to him on the social media.

OPEN defecation is the human practice of defecating outside (in the open) rather than into a toilet. Lack of sanitation, and particularly open defecation contributes to the incidence of many waterborne diseases. She spoke at the one-day media dialogue on the launch of open defecation free (ODF) Roadmap in Oyo State, in Ibadan. Dr Babatunde Ogunbosin, a consultant paediatrician at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan stated “open defecation has a lot to do with diarrhoea diseases. Howbeit, the Chairman of RUWASSA, Mr Najim Omirinde said that the open defecation campaign to start in the state will jumpstart Oyo state’s journey towards ending open defecation while it also stops children from being affected by the negative impact of the exercise.

IGP Alkali spoke at the Police Mobile Force Training College, Ende Hills in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on Thursday, during the graduation ceremony of 324 police personnel who were trained in Explosive Ordinance Disposal – Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear technique. He explained that the 324 personnel who are attached to the EOD-CBRN Command of the Nigeria Police Force, were trained to effectively perform Improved Explosive Devices disposal. While urging the 324 newly trained personnel to work closely with other security agencies in order to swiftly tackle crime in the country, CP Shettima warned the personnel against engaging in corrupt practices adding that, anyone found wanting will be sanctioned according to the laid down laws. “In view of the current security challenges, I urge you all to have a cordial working relationship with other security agencies at all times. The Nigeria Police Force had on July 7th, 2022, graduated 192 personnel who were also trained in Explosive Ordinance Disposal – Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear technique, at the same training college in Nasarawa state.

THE Lagos State government, on Wednesday, completed the 2022 hajj operation with the arrival of the last batch of pilgrims from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The state pilgrims had begun their journey back home after the completion of the hajj rites with the first batch of 430 pilgrims on Sunday, July 17, 2022. The fifth batch with 10 pilgrims returned on Sunday, July 31, 2022 while the sixth and final batch of 36 pilgrims arrived on Wednesday, August 3. They also appreciated the Amir-ul-Hajj and Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Elegushi, the chairman and other officials of the welfare board for ensuring that they were comfortable in the holy land. They commended the state government for its stride and expressed the hope that the state would sustain its status in hajj operation.

The Federal Government and Google are collaborating to curb the excesses of subversive YouTube channels which are used to spread hate and disinformation against the country. “We want Google to look into how to tackle the use of private and unlisted YouTube channels and YouTube live streams by proscribed groups and terrorist organizations. Channels and emails containing names of proscribed groups and their affiliates should not be allowed on Google platforms,” he said. The Minister however observed that those platforms are also used by unscrupulous persons or groups for subversive and nefarious activities. Alhaji Mohammed said the Federal Nigerian Government recently proposed a “Code of Practice for Interactive Computer Service Platforms/ Internet Intermediaries” in an attempt to provide a framework for collaboratively protecting Nigerian users of Internet platforms.
