A 40-year-old man, Arnold Masuka has asked a local court in Lusaka, Zambia to dissolve the marriage between him and his wife, Hilda Mleya as a result of her exceptional beauty. According to a report by Zambia Observer, Arnold asked for divorce from his wife because her beauty has caused him sleepless nights. Arnold who claimed to have been living in perpetual fear of losing his beautiful wife to another man left the public, legal authorities and witnesses in shock as he made his unconventional demand. Shocked by this mouth-gaping request, the court clerk noted that in all his years of service, he had never experienced such in court. Expressing concerns over his wife’s beauty while he made his divorce demand, Arnold stressed that the fear of losing his wife to another man forced him to resolve to legal dissolution of the marriage.

Nestle S. A., the majority shareholder of Nestle Nigeria Plc, has bought an additional 40, 894 units of the shares of the consumer goods manufacturer. It was revealed that the shares were bought in five tranches and at different rates ranging from N1,034.56 to N1,140. Nestle Nigeria closed trading at N1,148 per share on the floor of the NGX on Thursday. In March, Nestle S.A. bought 77, 967 units of shares of the Nigerian arm for over N84m. Nestle recorded a 27 per cent growth in its revenue for last year to N446.81bn from N351.82bn in 2021.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has unveiled its new national carrier, Nigeria Air, with the aim of generating $1 billion in revenue within the next five years. Nigeria Air Limited is a company established under Nigerian laws, and is a partnership between Nigerian entrepreneurs and Ethiopian Airlines Consortium. The Aviation Minister added that the Ethiopian Airlines partnership provides capacity, which leaves no doubt that Nigeria Air would succeed. The Chief Commercial Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, Lemma Yadecha Gudeta, praised the efforts of the federal government, assured that the project under the watch of the Ethiopian Airlines would foster economic development for the country. He also said that Nigeria Air would be a $1 billion company within five years.

Byu Har, who had been based in Yangon, had called the electricity minister “a fool” and “incompetent” in a video posted to Facebook on Tuesday night. The prosecutor, Insp Olaide Rawlings, informed the court that the defendant committed the crime between March and May at Vanguard Pharmacy, Oke-Ilewo in Abeokuta, where he was the manager. Rawlings stated that the defendant took goods worth N751,035 from the pharmacy but did not remit the money to the company’s account. Additionally, the prosecutor said that the defendant converted N303,750 belonging to the company by reducing the money given to him to purchase diesel for the pharmacy. The accused committed offences that violated Sections 390(6) and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006. Osinbajo, granted the defendant bail in the amount of N100,000, with two sureties.

The Nigerian Government has declared Monday May 29 a public holiday to commemorate the inauguration of President-elect Bola Tinubu as the 16th democratically elected president of Nigeria. Tinubu will succeed current President Muhammadu Buhari after swearing in on Monday, May 29. The International Monetary Fund has urged the incoming government of President-elect, Sen. Bola Tinubu to take steps to increase the country’s revenue base. According to Aisen, to resolve the debt issues of Nigeria you need to concentrate on revenue and expenditure. NAN reports that Nigeria’s total public debt stock as of Dec.31, 2022, stands at N46.25 trillion (103.11 billion dollars). The comparative debt stock for Dec. 31, 2021, is N39.59 trillion (95.77 billion dollars)The DMO said in terms of composition, total domestic debt stock stood at N27.55 trillion (61.42 billion dollars), while total external debt stock was N18.70 trillion (41.69 billion dollars). “The issuance of promissory notes by the federal government to settle some liabilities also contributed to growth in the debt stock,’’ the DMO said.

The Lagos State Government recently commissioned the 72-unit Ndubuisi Kanu Housing Estate located in Gbagada, along Oworonshoki Expressway, as part of its efforts to reduce the housing deficit in the state. However, the government has completed 19 housing estates in different parts of the state, including the Ndubuisi Kanu Estate, named after a former military governor of the state.
