A couple from Aiken, South Carolina in the United States, Aaron and Natali Johnston, travel the world participating in beards contests. Aaron came second in the Goatee category at the 2023 World Championships in Burghausen, Germany, while his wife, Natali, won first place in the ‘realistic freestyle category’ – for non-real beards – and best in the show, According to The Independence UK. They participate in separate categories yet compete in the same contests all around the world. Since 2015, the couple has competed in over 170 contests together, spending most weekends travelling to another city to participate. Aaron began working for the beard grooming company Honest Amish after winning the global championships in 2017.

Troops raid militant, oil thieves' camp in Bayelsa
Troops of 5 Battalion operating under 16 Brigade, Nigerian Army have destroyed a camp where suspected unrepentant militants and illegal oil bunkers carry out their nefarious activities in Bayelsa. The Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement on Monday, said the camp was discovered during a raid by troops at Azuzuama Community in the Ijaw South Local Government Area of the state. During the operation, he said the troops subdued the suspected militants with superior firepower, compelling them to abandon their camp in disarray. “The well-conducted raid operation led to the recovery of five AK 47 Rifles, two Rocket Propelled Grenade Bombs, 4 Rocket Grenade Bomb Chargers, seven 7.62mm Special ammunition, 14 AK 47 Rifle Magazines and one pumping machine. The illicit camp has been destroyed by the troops, ” the statement added.

Detention Ordered for Skit Creator and Parents in Child Sexual Exploitation Case
According to a report by Editor.guardian.ng, the case file had been submitted and duplicated at the Oyo State Ministry of Justice, according to the Magistrate, Mrs. P.O. Arowosaye said that on December 17, 2022, “Trinity” sexually abused and exploited the girl in the Kuolaa neighborhood of Ibadan. She claims that the offenses violate Section 35 (1) of the Oyo State Child Rights Law, 2006 and are penalized in accordance with Section 35 (2). Arowosaye claimed that Section 516 of the Oyo State Criminal Code Laws from 2000 was also violated by the offenses. The Child Rights Law of 2006 stipulates that the skit creator faces a 15-year prison sentence if he is proven guilty of the crime.

Tinubu will honour South Korea’s invitation for state visit – Shettima

NITP tasks governments to step up actions against ocean surge, flooding
The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) has called on both the Federal and Ondo State Governments on the need to take quick steps to arrest the perennial menace of ocean surge and flooding in Nigeria’s communities. However, he enjoined all dwellers in places prone to flooding to relocate to safer places to avoid disasters this year. In a recent disaster in Aiyetoro, a riverine community in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, ocean surge displaced over 2,000 people while 200 houses were destroyed. “We call upon the State and the Federal Governments to step up actions through intensive studies and production of implementable plans to arrest this menace,” he said. The NITP boss called on the Federal Government to restructure its agencies and create a single ministry of physical planning rather than being an appendage to other ministries.

Ajia Road and its extension to Adegbayi
We are blessed with the gift of a leader in His Excellency, the governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde. Be that as it may, I would like to use this avenue to call the attention of His Excellency to Ajia Road that extends to Adegbayi which is currently in bad shape. A lot of good will be done for the users of this road if the current situation is looked into. If nothing is done, the whole road will be impassable and motorists will be compelled to for alternative roads. Pitiably, other access roads to Adegbayi and Ajia are equally not motorable.

The Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered that all police patrol vehicles must obey traffic rules and regulations. Ribadu assumes office as NSA, vows to end insecurity
Retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Nuhu Ribadu, has officially assumed office as Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, taking over from Maj-Gen Babagana Monguno (retd). “This enormous task of securing our country is that of all Nigerians and all friends of Nigeria,” Ribadu concluded, as reported by the NSA Office. However, in an unprecedented shake-up within the country’s security architecture, Monguno was retired as NSA, and Ribadu was elevated as his replacement just four days later. Ribadu, born on November 21, 1960, in Adamawa State, is widely known for his tenure as EFCC boss from 2003 to 2007. Ribadu holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State and a Master of Laws Degree from the same university.

Six die, 15 injured in auto crash along Oyo-Ogbomoso expressway
Six passengers have lost their lives while 15 others were critically injured in an auto crash that occurred along Oyo-Ogbomoso expressway Sunday night. Also, an okada rider lost his life in another accident on the same route at the early hours of Monday. The auto accident involved a 21-seater commercial bus and a Northern states bound articulated vehicle. Five passengers died on the spot while the remaining one passenger died while receiving medical attention at Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso. Their remains, as reliably informed, have been deposited at Ladoke Akintola Teaching Hospital mortuary, Ogbomoso while the injured ones are receiving medical attention at Bowen University Teaching Hospital Ogbomoso.

Shareholders approve transfer of Union Bank Scheme Shares to Titan Trust Bank
THE shareholders of Union Bank have approved transfer of its Scheme Shares to Titan Trust Bank. Following the subjoined special resolutions as stated in the Notice of Court Ordered Meeting dated May 16, 2023, the Scheme Document dated May 10, 2023 for the bank’s Scheme of Arrangement were approved by Union Bank’s shareholders. As regards the transfer of the Scheme Shares, each holder of the scheme Shares shall receive N7.00 per share transferred. The Nigerian Exchange Limited and Central Securities Clearing System Plc shall be notified and requested to terminate trading in the shares with effect from the eligibility date and no trading or transfer of the bank’s shares shall be registered after that date. all the shares of the bank that were lodged with the CSCS shall be transferred to Titan Trust Bank.
