Supreme court verdict: Otti commends Tinubu for being neutral
The Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has thanked President Bola Tinubu for allowing the judiciary to discharge its duties independently which saw him and other governors win their cases at the Supreme Court. Otti noted that Tinubu’s non-interference in the judiciary has brought about positive results in the country. The governor spoke to journalists in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, on Friday, shortly after the reaffirmation of his victory by the Supreme Court. I believe that his non-interference in the judiciary has produced positive results in the country today. He thanked all the governorship candidates, especially those who did not go to court for being supportive.

Supreme Court judgement: Akobundu congratulates Gov Otti

South Africa distorting truth in ICJ genocide case — Israel
Israel has said South Africa has distorted the truth in its case at the International Court of Justice, where it is accusing Israel of genocide. South Africa had presented “a sweeping counter-factual description” of the Israel-Palestinian conflict, Israeli lawyer Tal Becker told the ICJ. South Africa says Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians in its war in Gaza. Its rulings are theoretically legally binding on parties to the ICJ – which include Israel and South Africa – but are not enforceable. Israel delivered its defence to the court a day after South Africa presented its case.

The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Alex Otti as the Governor of Abia State. The court dismissed the appeals by the Peoples Democratic Party and its governorship candidate, Okey Ahiwe, and Ikechi Emenike of the APCThe Supreme Court on Wednesday, reserved judgment in the appeals by the PDP and the APC against the election of Otti. The five-man panel led by John Okoro adjourned the matters for judgments after taking arguments from parties involved in the matter.
