The All Liberian Party (ALP), one of the four constituent parties of the original Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), is experiencing a significant split within its ranks. The majority of the party's National Executive Committee has refused to participate in an endorsement program for President George Manneh Weah's re-election bid, calling it unconstitutional and unpopular. Prior to this split, the ALP's National Executive Committee had endorsed opposition candidate Amb. Meanwhile, the majority of the ALP's leadership has signed and notarized an official resolution supporting and endorsing Boakai and the "Rescue Mission". The ALP has urged its members to remain patient and engaged with the majority leadership.

And by that I mean isn’t it logically true that even when the lives of two identical beings, i.e. If not, isn’t it logically true that the differences within our living conditions, environments, households, realities and age should always prevent us from interacting with identical or mirroring circumstances throughout our lives? If yes, isn’t it also true that the former things also mean that genetics could be absolute too?? If yes, isn’t it also true that the former things also mean that genetics cannot be absolute too? If yes, isn’t it also true that the former things could also mean that a parallel life may not be real or possible too?

This concept was intended to undermine the leadership and political power of African traditional leaders by the European colonizers. So, the African kings were to be referred to as ‘Paramount Chief’, but not King (Wikipedia). They introduced an electoral system in which paramount chiefs were elected, in complete contradiction to the practices of our forefathers. In most cases, District Commissioners that were appointed had the power to dismiss an elected paramount chief from his position. Recent experience has shown that successful decentralization must take existing traditional structures into account.

Integrity Watch Liberia (IWL), in addition to shedding light on the abuse of incumbency and violations of campaign financing in its report, also highlighted the need for greater integrity and transparency in Liberia's electoral practices. The conference, funded by the United Nations Development Program, aimed to address these concerns and promote responsible campaign financing. The violation of campaign financing regulations is a serious matter that could have far-reaching consequences for the democratic process in Liberia, electoral experts say. Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Liberia, Christine Umutoni, expressed gratitude towards Integrity Watch Liberia, the National Elections Commission, and the Liberian government for their efforts in promoting responsible campaign financing. However, other stakeholders stressed that it is imperative that the government and relevant institutions take steps to strengthen campaign financing regulations and enforcement measures.

BY REUTERS |Former US Vice-President Mike Pence ended his cash-strapped presidential campaign on Saturday, after struggling for months to convince Republican voters he was the best alternative to the man he once served with unswerving loyalty, Donald Trump. Pence’s surprise announcement at the Republican Jewish Coalition donor conference in Las Vegas made him the first big-name candidate to drop out. So after much prayer and deliberation, I have decided to suspend my campaign for president effective today,” Pence told the audience to gasps and, later, prolonged claps and cheers of support. A source close to Pence laughed when asked whether he would endorse Trump. Former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, who was Trump’s ambassador to the UN, praised Pence as a fighter for America and Israel.

Press Statement |The Coalition for the Establishment of War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia (CEWAECCL) has alarmed over election and re-election warlords, individuals accused of war and economic crimes in the National Legislature, and further urged the international community to seriously take note. We, the heads of over 30 human rights, Civil Society, religious, and development organizations have observed with grave concern the election and re-election of major warlords and individuals accused of war and economic crimes at the level of the national legislature following the just-ended October 10, 2023, presidential and legislative elections. The Coalition – CEWAECCL, has further expressed disappointment in some Liberian voters over the election of these individuals to public offices. This is a classic example of the continual roadblocks faced by the past legislature which had a propensity to undermine the quest for justice, accountability, and the advocacy for instituting war and economic crimes court in Liberia. By Paul Ejime |As expected by critics, Nigeria’s Supreme Court on Thursday in Abuja dismissed all the petitions by opposition parties challenging the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the controversial 25 February 2023 elections. The petitions filed by former President Abubakar Atiku of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), accused Tinubu of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) of forging the education documents he submitted to the electoral commission, to stand for the elections. Other petitions alleging fraud and/or irregularities in the election were also dismissed for lack of merit. The Supreme Court’s verdict is final on election matters in Nigeria, the Elections Petition Appeal Tribunal, having dismissed the same and similar petitions filed by the opposition. The lead judgement of the Supreme Court, read by Justice John Okoro was seconded by six of his colleagues, who described the petitions as frivolous and vexatious.

WRITTEN BY OCCRP |The U.S. imposed sanctions on the children of Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik and four companies under their management, highlighting concerns that the Bosnian Serb region, known as Republika Srpska (RS), is increasingly resembling a Dodik family enterprise rather than a political entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). After the U.S. authorities sanctioned twice Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik, they now sanctioned his children, son Igor and daughter Gorica, for helping their father in corruption activities. OFAC noted that since 2021, Dodik had increased his children’s involvement in political and business activities within the RS. The extent of the Dodik family’s corruption raised concerns among nations interested in providing foreign investment to the RS, causing some to refrain from doing so as they believed that financial assistance would likely benefit Dodik and his family rather than RS institutions.
