In a recent speech delivered at the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary International Theological Education Conference, Dr. Getteh emphasized the importance of selecting leaders who embody trustworthiness and integrity, rather than being swayed by tribal affiliations. Dr. Getteh fervently urged Christians to transcend party loyalties and make informed choices based on the character and values of the candidates. As the people prepare to exercise their political rights on November 14, Dr. Getteh stressed the significance of voting righteously. Recognizing the gravity of the issues at stake, particularly in relation to public policy, Dr. Getteh warned that failing to exercise their freedom to vote would ultimately lead to the loss of that very freedom. As the November 14 election approaches, it is crucial for the Christian electorate to prayerfully consider the impact of their vote and use this opportunity to shape a future that upholds morality and righteousness in their beloved nation.

The head of the Health Workers Union Bong County Chapter, Martha Morris, has accused Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah, the Minister of Health, of exerting influence over health workers to vote for President George Weah in the upcoming runoff election on November 14th. She alleges that banners with Minister Jallah’s pictures printed on them have been displayed, leading health workers to feel pressured to support Weah. She also claims that health workers have been marginalized and underpaid under the current administration compared to the previous administration led by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. Minister Jallah denies the accusations and asserts that her campaign activities are separate from her role as Minister of Health. Morris’ concerns regarding the potential influence exerted on health workers in their voting decisions highlight yet another dimension of potential campaign finance violations.

By CNN Staff |CNN — More than 10,000 people have been killed in Gaza since Israel launched its military offensive nearly a month ago, the Hamas-controlled health ministry in the Palestinian enclave said Monday. Israel retaliated by launching an air and ground offensive on Gaza, vowing to eliminate the militant group. CNN cannot independently verify the numbers released by the ministry in Gaza, which is sealed off by Israel and mostly sealed by Egypt. Thousands more Palestinians have been killed in Gaza in the last month than those who died in conflicts with Israel spanning over the last 15 years. The rising death toll as Israel’s bombardment campaign on the densely populated strip draws international condemnation.

Sadly, the results from all the three elections revealed the level of women’s political participation remains dismally low, usually declining. “It therefore follows that addressing gender imbalances and inequality to promote women’s political participation require deliberate actions to assess, analyze, and take actions in order that the structural and institutional barriers to women’s political participation are removed. “Civil Society Organizations especially women led CSOs engaged in training women’s campaigners and we look forward to read their accounts of women’s political participation in this respect. However, the limited capacity of women candidates to resource their campaign operations always sprung out during our engagements at various fora and with several candidates. Samuel Enders makes the case that VAWIE was an issue.”Amid the odds, Madam Pope-Kai also reported some positives which could mean great prospects for women’s political participation.

President J. Shiwoh Kamara, along with the National Leadership of ULAA, initiated legal action following the disturbance that prevented Liberians in the Americas from voting during the General Assembly. Despite President Kamara’s efforts to restore peace and establish a new election date through legal and constitutional means, the disruption led by Sieh and others stopped these attempts. The lawsuit seeks preliminary injunctions to prevent further actions in ULAA’s name, as well as remedies for the harm caused. President Kamara and ULAA’s legal team, led by Attorney Charles Kwalonue Sunwabe Jr., are pursuing legal avenues to ensure the integrity of ULAA’s democratic processes and uphold the organization’s constitution. BEIRUT (AP) — Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said Friday that his powerful militia is already engaged in unprecedented fighting along the Lebanon-Israel border and threatened a further escalation as Israel’s war with Hamas nears the one-month mark. In televised remarks — his first since the Palestinian militants’ deadly Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel — Nasrallah stopped short of announcing that Hezbollah would fully enter the war, a move that would have devastating consequences for both Lebanon and Israel. The United States, Israel’s strongest backer, has warned Hezbollah and its patron Iran against entering the fray and has sent warships to the Mediterranean, a move Nasrallah said “will not scare us.”Hezbollah is prepared for all options, he declared, “and we can resort to them at any time.” The fighting would “not be limited” to the scale seen so far, he added. In recent weeks, Hezbollah has fired rockets across the border daily, mainly hitting military targets in northern Israel, but it has a substantial arsenal capable of hitting anywhere in Israel and thousands of battle-hardened fighters. The increase in more modern cars on the roads over recent years means criminals are now able to target those using keyless technology. The most common method is known as a ‘relay attack’ and involves two criminals working together using an electronic signal relay to intercept a key fob signal, usually when the key fob is within the victim’s home. Thieves can also drive off ‘in seconds’ using a method gaining popularity where they hack of a car’s CAN bus or circuit board to disable locking and alarm systems. Tips to help protect cars include introducing physical barriers like a locked garage or concrete posts on the driveway to help deter criminals. Keys can also be placed in pouches which can easily be bought online and block attempts to clone signals.
