MONROVIA – AMI Groups in Liberia has donated to the Ministry of Education and the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE) the sum of US$210, 000 to help Liberia students through scholarship. Making the donation in Monrovia, AMI Groups Liberia’s Managing Director Trokon Lawrance Banwreh expressed his group commitment in helping students achieve their goals. He disclosed that AMI Education and Immigration Consultancy is the foremost international student recruiting company employing the services of a team from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the United Kingdom in committed and credible education professionals. He disclosed that the NCHE will receive US$100k out of the amount while the rest goes to the Ministry of Education. Mayor Koijee however uses the occasion to call on other institutions or companies to follow the example of the AMI foundation in reaching out to the neediest in society.

According to a top source who spoke to FPA based on anonymity, there hasn’t been any response from the top Korean government. FrontPageAfrica has also been informed that the government is trying to use diplomatic channels to deport the two Liberians. “He is of the hope that the GOL will make the proper representation to the Government of the Republic of Korea,” She deciphered. MONROVIA – On October 26, 2022, the Liberia Youth Task Team of the Africa Youth Partnership advocates for equitable recovery from the global COVID-19 pandemic, held its first National Dialogue on two thematic areas “Education and Skills training.”The event was held at iCampus on Carey Street in Monrovia. This dialogue brought together five partners including development along with 36 participants from the disabled community, youth groups, advocates, journalists and students of Liberia. The purpose of event was to discuss ways that would contribute to the development of marginalized (At-Risk Youths, Visually Impaired and Physically Challenged) groups in Liberia. The National Dialogue started with a sharp overview from a team Lead by Mr. Jacob B. Swee, Jr. Mr. Gray is a wonderful personality with a strong academic background in the Mechanical Engineering department of the University of Liberia.

BUCHANAN – It was a terrifying scene in Grand Bassa after the lifeless body of an Emergency Response Unit (ERU) officer was discovered in Pearchuzohn Community, outside of Buchanan. Hours after the ERU officer’s body was found, Grand Bassa County authority headed by Superintendent Janjay Baikpeh expressed regret over the death of the Emergency Response Unit (ERU) officer. Mr. Eddie Williams, County Information Officer posted on his official Facebook page saying: “The Grand Bassa County administration headed by Superintendent Janjay Baikpeh regrets the death of an ERU officer in Bassa. However, Grand Bassa Police detachment including members of the joint Security immediately drove to several drug users’ spots (ghettoes) with a bulldozer and broke down several structures. The Police had promised to continue the process as the investigation into the death of the late ERU officer continues.

United States President Joe Biden has weighed in on the extent to which climate change is devastating the livelihoods and economies of not only poor countries but also that of the United States. President Biden who spoke at the ongoing COP27 in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, elevated the crisis into a security issue. President Biden said that the world had witnessed historic drought, flooding, wildfires in the west, devastating hurricanes and storms in the east, and Africa, homes to many of which nations remain most vulnerable to climate change. This funding is expected to help more than half of a billion people in developing countries respond to climate change. The United States was the first country to contribute to the adaption fund last year and further double its pledge to bring the US total commitment to USD 150 million.

MONROVIA – The Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) has launched a ‘massive’ campaign to mitigate power theft in the country. The Acting Chairman and CEO of LEC, Mr. Monie R. Captan on Wednesday launched the LEC National Power Theft Taskforce led by him and assisted by GSA Boss Madam Mary Broh.
