Liberia Electricity Corporation Launches National Campaign to Eradicate Power Theft; Assures Stable Electricity Beginning December 1st


MONROVIA – The Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) has launched a ‘massive’ campaign to mitigate power theft in the country. The Acting Chairman and CEO of LEC, Mr. Monie R. Captan on Wednesday launched the LEC National Power Theft Taskforce led by him and assisted by GSA Boss Madam Mary Broh. He said Liberia, as a country, has been losing about US$48 million annually to power theft. By Francis G. BoayueHe called on community leaders to collaborate with the LEC to bring to book those who are involved with power theft. The co-chair of the LEC National Power Theft Taskforce, Madam Mary Broh, lauded President George Weah for affording her the opportunity to work with the LEC to mitigate power theft.
