The government has cleared all the unpaid bills for road contractors, amounting to Sh177 billion, which have been pending since 2020. “Contractors are now back on site, and adequate resources have been mobilised to ensure contractors are paid promptly,” he stated. Kindiki challenged the Ministry and the contractors to adhere to the highest quality standards and deliver the projects on time. Earlier during the meeting, Kindiki said that Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) remain central to Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation agenda. He further argued that the decision declared the county executive redundant, alleging that their powers had effectively been usurped. Governor Sakaja has become a disappointment. Egypt has reportedly proposed a Ksh12.9 billion financing mechanism to support dam construction and water projects in Kenya, signalling a potential shift in regional cooperation within the Nile Basin. According to the proposal, the funds would be directed toward initiatives within the Southern Nile Basin framework, including expanded rainwater harvesting programmes and key infrastructure projects such as the development of the Koru Dam.
