Another outbreak of Covid-19 has hit Roscommon University Hospital, enforcing visiting restrictions. Access to visitors to St. Coman’s Ward and St. Teresa’s Ward at the hospital is currently limited to compassionate grounds only. The hospital has advised that visits must be pre-arranged in advance by contacting the relevant ward: St. Coman’s Ward, 090 6632223/25; St. Teresa’s Ward, 090 66322253/30. The hospital, like other hospitals throughout the country, has been affected by a number of Covid outbreaks since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The songwriter, who found fame as the lead singer of London-Irish punk/folk band The Pogues, died at the age of 65 last week. Members of the public are expected to line the streets to catch a glimpse of the procession, which will begin at St Lotts Road in Dublin City Centre at 11am. MacGowan’s public funeral mass, which will be livestreamed, will take place at St Mary’s of the Rosary Church in Nenagh at 3.30pm. Following the funeral mass, the public will also have the opportunity to pay their respects as the funeral cortege moves through Nenagh town centre from Church Road to Market Cross. The petitioners in the Noise Pollution Writ Petitions and PILs brought before the HC that the violations of noise rules had continued rampantly. The HC also heard the GSPCB on the measures that they intend to take to avoid violations. The GSPCB has also submitted that if no permissions are issued they won't allow the events to be held. Sources have informed that the events don't even have the NOCs from the Tourism Department and CRZ authorities posing a big question mark on these major events. “We will ensure that permissions if given, will be granted only for those days, which normally would happen,” he said.

This follows the addition of a €2.5 million investment from leading Irish EIIS fund, Business Venture Partners (BVP), and US technology investor, TechNexus Venture Collaborative. The company specialises in robotic solutions for non-destructive testing, with food production, chemicals, pharmaceutical, aerospace, and energy companies among its customers.
