Government driving ahead with plan to split Road Safety AuthorityBy Cillian Sherlock, PAThe Road Safety Authority is to be split into two independent agencies under a plan being progressed by Government. The Department of Transport said it would bring about a “radical transformation” in road safety activities are implemented. Under the plan approved by Government, an implementation plan to reform the RSA into two independent agencies will be progressed. One agency will be focused on the delivery of services and operations while the other will be responsible for wider road safety initiatives including media campaigns, education and research. “This reform of the RSA and wider road safety structures aims to deliver a more effective whole-of-Government response to the deteriorating fatality and serious injury trends on Irish roads.”

Mr McGrath required a two-thirds majority of a voting committee of MEPs to be approved as commissioner. While some nominees have been rejected during this process in the past, Mr McGrath will be officially confirmed on November 21. Mr McGrath said measures would be developed to address the addictive design of many online platforms. Mr McGrath said people had been “devastated by the defective concrete block issue” and that it was important they received “full remediation”.

Ms Ni Laimhin has accused Mr McGregor of pinning her to a bed and raping her in a hotel in Dublin. Nikita Ni Laimhin claims Mr McGregor raped her. The court was told Mr McGregor collected Ms Ni Laimhin, a Dublin hairdresser, and her friend following a Christmas party on December 8. Mr Gordon said that Mr McGregor was “enormously famous” and was considered a “hero” around Drimnagh. Her also stated that Ms Ni Laimhin was worried about a tampon she had been wearing on the night she was allegedly assaulted.
