Ballycumber pub hosts 'Shave or Wax' in aid of Offaly Down Syndrome AssociationBallycumber pub The Gav Inn will be hosting a 'Shave or Wax' event in aid of Offaly Down Syndrome Association on Saturday, November 30 at 9pm. Each participants transformation will symbolise their solidarity with the Down Syndrome community and the commitment to make Offaly a more inclusive place for people with Down syndrome. "‘Shave or Wax with Paul & Friends’ is more than just a fundraiser; it’s a celebration of resilience, community spirit, and the incredible potential of people with Down syndrome,” said Robbie Donnelly, Branch Administrator for Offaly Down Syndrome Association. Funds raised from this event will support Offaly Down Syndrome Association’s wide range of programs and services, which include early intervention, educational support, career training, and social initiatives for people with Down syndrome across all age groups. These programs are instrumental in helping members of the Down syndrome community lead healthy, fulfilling lives with access to the resources they need to thrive.

Gardai investigate Abbeyknockmoy burglaryGARDAI are investigating a burglary that occurred in the Abbeyknockmoy area last week. On Saturday, November 2 between 1.30pm and 3pm a house was broken into in Culliagh North. During this break-in a quantity of jewellery was stolen. Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have seen any persons or vehicles acting suspiciously in the area to contact Barnaderg Station on 093-049212 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111.

She said that subsequent inspections, however, indicated that Mr Canty was not abiding by the terms of the farm plan he had agreed to. Giving evidence, Edward Myers, senior veterinary inspector for Cork South, told the court that he had been dealing with Mr Canty since 2017. Mr Myers said that Mr Canty had a “long history of failure to comply” and his primary concern was for animal welfare at the farm. Mr Myers told the court it was his opinion that the high death rate among calves at Mr Canty’s farm was “down to poor animal husbandry and care for the animals". She asked Mr Myers to write “a very specific letter” to Mr Canty at the earliest opportunity to ask him to focus very seriously on the options open to him.

We are massively a community driven shop ran by the community for the community and we have employed almost 40 staff since we first opened our doors. Offaly community expected to be without water for hours due to burst pipeUisce Éireann said the public water supply to an area of Offaly is being interrupted today (Wednesday) due to a burst main. It said the pipe burst was causing water supply problems for residents in Durrow, Ballybought, and surrounding areas in the north of the county. Uisce Eireann listed the issue on its website today and said repair works were scheduled to take place until 10pm tonight. It added that affected residents should "allow 3-4 hours after the estimated restoration time" for their water supply to fully return.

Three men plead not guilty to Dublin restaurant murder on Christmas Eve
Eoin ReynoldsThree young men accused of the "savage" murder of gunman Tristan Sherry at a busy Dublin steakhouse last Christmas Eve entered not guilty pleas at the Special Criminal Court on Wednesday morning. Noah Musueni (18), Michael Andrecut (22), and David Amah (18) each formally entered not guilty pleas to the murder of Tristan Sherry. The court has heard that a hooded Sherry entered Browne's Steakhouse with his face covered and shot and killed Jason Hennessy Snr, before moments later being dragged to the ground. She said the prosecution intends to prove that each of the three murder accused engaged in unlawful violence with the intention to kill or cause serious injury and Tristan Sherry died as a result. Brandon Hennessy (21) of Sheephill Avenue, Dublin 15 is also charged with violent disorder.

High temperatures of 17C and ‘changeable’ weather to come – Met Éireann
The rest of this week is expected to be rather cloudy and rainy, with highs of 17C, Met Éireann has said. Today is set to be mostly cloudy, dry and very mild. Some patches of drizzle are expected while the hill and coastal fog might linger in the southern and eastern parts. The other areas might see a brighter spell as temperatures will range between 14 and 17C, with fresher winds near western coasts. This week will see changeable weather with plenty of clouds and occasional rainfall, Met Éireann has said.

Acquisition plan by BMW dealership Frank Keane likely to lift sales to more than €300m
Frank Keane Motors has just notified the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) that it intends to buy the entire issued share capital of Pavla Unlimited in Naas. Frank Keane Motors also sells Volkswagen vehicles and light commercial vehicles. Frank Keane Group is unlimited and does not have to file publicly available accounts. It operates a BMW dealership on the Naas Road in Dublin as well as one on Blackrock in the capital’s southside. The CCPC said submissions from third parties in relation to the proposed acquisition of Pavla Unlimited are due by December 13 as part of its preliminary investigation in the deal.
