Generative AI posed a challenge to some fundamental notions of security, raising the threat landscape to a level where flaws and vulnerabilities, revealed even for a brief instant, may be exploited. Increased awareness of security dangers, stricter compliance requirements and obligations and liabilities related to data protection will generate enormous opportunities for security market participants, both products and services. From $6 billion, we believe the domestic cyber security market size will grow with CAGR to more than 25 per cent.

December 30, 2023 12:16 am | Updated 11:47 am ISTThe 2024 United States presidential election is beginning to look increasingly like a referendum on Donald Trump. On the one hand, Mr. Trump is reaping the hurricane for a variety of alleged improprieties including, most notoriously, his role in egging on a mob that attacked the U.S. Capitol buildings on January 6, 2021. Profiting from trialsOne view of these indictments and the personal appearances in court that they will necessitate is that they are likely to hobble Mr. Trump’s election campaign plans for 2024. Yet, if the media circus and general public outcry accompanying each episode of Mr. Trump surrendering to the authorities for processing are measures of the impact that these allegations have on his popularity, it is obvious that Mr. Trump has only emerged stronger and is seen more as a victim of political vindictiveness than ever before. It is worth parsing Mr. Trump’s unique matrix of pronouncements on domestic and foreign policy issues to better understand why voters might throng to his campaign next year.

The Indian government has been allegedly using Pegasus spyware to target prominent journalists, as per a joint investigation released on Thursday by Amnesty International and The Washington Post.Pegasus software, developed by the Israeli company NSO Group and distributed to governments worldwide, allows users to read and write on a phone, browse through images, record calls, monitor locations, and even record the owner using the camera.According to Amnesty International, the most recent case of the malware on the iPhones of journalists Siddharth Varadarajan of The Wire and Anand Mangnale of The Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project was discovered in October. "Our latest findings show that increasingly, journalists in India face the threat of unlawful surveillance simply for doing their jobs, alongside other tools of repression including imprisonment under draconian laws, smear campaigns, harassment, and intimidation," said Donncha O Cearbhaill, Head of Amnesty International's Security Lab.Representing the Indian government MeitY's Rajeev Chandrasekhar on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) said that the response has been consistent. "My response to this incident has been consistent and clear from the incident - That it is for Apple to explain if their devices are vulnerable and what triggered these notifications. Apple was asked to join the enquiry with CERT-In and meetings have been held and enquiry is ongoing," he said.Last month, Indian media reported that the nation's cyber security unit CERT-In was looking into claims made by opposition lawmakers that they were subjected to attempted phone tapping. These politicians had received alerts from Apple about "state-sponsored attackers" on their iPhones.Minister of communication and technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, stated that the government was "concerned" about the grievances.

India’s prime textile hubs—Ludhiana, Surat, and Erode—have reported their struggle with the escalating influx of imports in man-made fibre (MMF) fabrics. This surge, coupled with extensive dumping of these fabrics, has cast a shadow on the US $ 60 billion industry. The increasing imports of MMF fabric and the augmented domestic fibre prices have dealt a severe blow to local spinners, knitters, weavers, and processors, impeding their ability to compete on pricing. Specifically, knitted or crocheted dyed synthetic fibre fabrics marked a strikingly low value. The adverse impact of rising MMF fabric imports and elevated domestic fibre prices has crippled the local industry, resulting in manufacturers operating at only 70 per cent capacity, affecting both local and export-oriented endeavours.
