He said the initiative to build the Komenda Sugar Factory without having the raw material, which is sugarcane, growing alongside it, was a misplaced priority of the previous government. Speaking on The LowDown on GhanaWeb TV, Joseph Cudjoe said the feasibility studies conducted prior to the establishment of the company was not done properly, hence the reason the factory has been left dormant. “The Komenda sugar factory if you ask whether that can come under my tenure then you are asking me if I am going to grow the sugarcane... He further stated that the monies used in the establishment of the factory should have been used for other developments since the raw materials were not readily available to operate the factory.

According to him, an investigation by the Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council (GLC) and the Judicial Services will be impartial because the Chief Justice chairs that body. Speaking on Accra-based Citi FM, monitored by GhanaWeb, Vitus Azeem said, Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) would conduct a more credible investigation into the said allegations. “The GLC should not be the one investigating the matter because the Chief Justice is the Chair of that body. “He further informed me that the Chief Justice had demanded a bribe of US$5,000,000 for a successful outcome to his case and that he had already paid US$500,000 to the Chief Justice. He said he wanted the payment in dollars because he was raising the remainder of the money to be paid the Chief Justice, and that currency was the currency of choice.

He explained, “The only reason why you can take patients into your ICU is when you have oxygen and adequate staff to handle them. “At the moment we are constrained by lack of oxygen and it is not only the infectious disease centre, almost all the ICU centres are constrained by oxygen including the use of high flow oxygen, very expensive that patients cannot afford. The acting Director, Ghana’s Infectious Disease Centre, advised the public to adhere strictly to all COVID-19 safety precautions.

SSNIT has asked pensioners who are yet to complete their Pensioner Certificates to ensure that they do the necessary documentation by August, 30, 2021. According to a press statement issued by SSNIT, some 13,451 pensioners, who receive monthly pension are yet to complete or renew their Pensioner Certificates per their records. The aim of this exercise according to the SSNIT will help eradicate Ghost names from the system and avoid paying pension benefits to the wrong people. The office for the Pensioner Certificate renewal are have also asked beneficiaries to carry along their Ghana Cards to have their SSNIT and NIA numbers merged.
