Profile of the late Daasebre Oti Boateng
Daasebre Oti Boateng proceeded to the University of Ghana where he completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Economics. Daasebre Oti Boateng also holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Statistics from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom. Daasebre Oti Boateng was elected as the first black Chairman of the United Nations Statistical Commission in 1987. He ascended the New Juaben stool under the stool name Daasebre Oti Boateng in 1992, succeeding his elder brother and predecessor, the late Nana Kwaku Boateng II. Daasebre Oti Boateng has authored several books and research papers regarding local governance, statistics and community, national development.

Obinim paid entire cost of his father’s funeral – Wife

The wife of the founder and leader of International God’s Way Church spoke to media persons at the funeral grounds of the bishop’s father, Kojo Bonsu, Saturday morning. According to her, the family though was united and worked together with Bishop Obinim to finalise arrangements for the funeral, did not pay a dime in that regard. She also revealed that Bishop Obinim was the last son of his father and mother though he has other step-siblings. The funeral of Bishop Obinim’s father was held on the morning of August 28, 2021.

After a 2-minute period of silence in respect for his departed father, Obinim walked out to sit under the set canopies with the rest of the crowd, in a very solemn mood. Obinim, according to his wife, Florence Obinim, was the last son of his father from his mother’s side. According to reports, his father who was popularly called Agya Bonsu, died on April 9, after he was rushed to the hospital at Bosomoe in Kumasi.

Ghana suffer blow for World Cup qualifiers, Kudus Mohammed ruled out for three weeks
The Black Stars will take on Ethiopia in Cape Coast on Friday before travelling three days later to play South Africa in Johannesburg on 6 September. Kudus was named in the Black Stars squad for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa despite being injured as they were hoping he would be fit before the two matches. Kudus was ruled out of Ajax's 4-0 heavy defeat to PSV in the Johann Cryuff Shield Cup two weeks ago due to the injury. Kudus has been one of Ghana's key players during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He scored that decisive goal against South Africa in Johannesburg that qualified the Black Stars to the AFCON tournament to be held next year in Cameroon.

"The former Minister of Public Health, Dr. Eteni Longondo, was questioned at length by the prosecutor at the Court of Cassation and placed under provisional arrest warrant this evening. "Dr. Eteni has indeed arrived here at the Makala central prison on the basis of a provisional arrest warrant issued by the prosecutor's office. Mr. Eteni Longondo, Minister of Health from 2019 until last April, is accused of "misappropriation of public funds allocated to the response" against Covid-19, wrote on Twitter the Association for Access to Justice (ACAJ). Mr. Longondo is the first executive of the presidential party Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS) to be arrested for embezzling public funds.

14 suspects arrested over alleged defilement of 13-year-old girl at Gomoa Adzintem

Coronavirus positives sparking Africa's future
In 2019, tourism accounted for about seven percent of Africa’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and is said to have contributed USD 169 billion to the economy. In the same year, Africa’s travel and tourism sector employed more than 24 million people, says the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). This is largely due to dependence on foreign travel but picking from 2019 where domestic tourism accounted for 55 percent of Africa’s travel and tourism, the sector leaped the breaking point, recovering steadily with campaigns on domestic tourism. The Thomas who sees, touches yet fails to believe and act
The refreshing news is that Thomas believed and acted appropriately after seeing and touching Jesus Christ. It is now certain that the doubting Thomas of our time has become an obstacle that we have to overcome to have an assured future where life becomes normal with new values and lessons inculcated in our practices. We all become the Thomas who hears, sees, and touches without believing and acting when we fail to comply with the protocols at any point in time when necessary. We hope that with constant admonishing they will become like the Thomas who doubted first but changed to believe and act in the right way. It is important that we do not only act right when we are affected personally but also act appropriately even when we have not been affected personally.
