Over 200 acres of rice farm submerged in Ejura
Those worst hit are rice farmers at Aframso and other surrounding communities, a major rice hub in the region as an estimated 200 acres of rice farm at two irrigation sites, SCIMP and ALPHA Limited have all been submerged. The rainfall destroyed the boundaries of the irrigation sites and swept over the farms submerging them in the process. “Rice farmers in Aframso and Ntomamum are counting our losses as we have been badly affected following a heavy downpour. Our rice farms have been submerged and we have lost everything. In the interim, we want them to fix the irrigation sites for us”.

Nawuni and Afayili flood victims yet to relocate despite NADMO warnings

The residents claimed they are financially incapable to relocate on their own, apportioning blames on the authorities for failing to support their relocation. Earlier this week, NADMO issued a press release warning residents living along the white volta river to move to higher grounds ahead of the spillage of the Bagre Dam. Hon Yusuf, however, re-echoed the residents plead to the authorities to come to their assistance by supporting them financially to move to the higher grounds. Meanwhile, the District NADMO Director of Kumbungu, Abubakari Alhaji Ibrahim, whilst speaking to GhanaWeb urged the people to move away from the river for their own sake.

Agotime-Ziope youth asked to be patriotic and agents of peace

Suhum MP’s driver slashes man in the head as NPP supporters clash at funeral

26 stolen goats found in a Taxi in Savelugu

The suspected goat thieves were arrested at a snap checkpoint at the Savelugu Airport junction. According to police sources, one of the suspects, Saadi, managed to escape and is being sought after by the police. DCOP Twumasi said the owner of the taxi – allegedly the receiver of the animals in Savelugu – is being sought after to assist the police with investigations. The police appealed to residents around Choggu, where they suspect the animals might have been stolen from, to visit the command for identification and collection.

Football academy owner shot and killed in Eastern Region
Ghanasportsonline, citing a publication by the Eastern Region Football Association disclosed that the victim is Fredrick Ohene Gyan, President of Eastern Region-based club Kwamekrom Bright Stars FC. According to the report the Kwamekrom Bright Stars FC boss was stabbed to death at midnight Saturday, August 28 at his residence in the region. Although the details are scanty, Frederick Ohene Gyan, known to be the bankroller of the promising club was stabbed multiple times with a knife and left in a pool of blood in his home. Further details provided by Starr news however have indicated that contrary to earlier reports, Mr Ohene Gyan was shot. An examination of the victim's body revealed gunshot wounds on his thigh, the police furthered as indicated by Starr news.

Police deploy special team to control longstanding and nervy Kasoa traffic

Many road users who ply that stretch have over a long period of time complained about the devastating congestion and immovable traffic situation along that path especially on weekends. “We apologise for the inconvenience suffered by users of that route, especially during yesterday and we hereby announce that a special team has been constituted and deployed to monitor and regulate the free flow of traffic in that area,” portions of the statement read.
