Obuobia Darko-Opoku donates to Akuapem School for the Blind
General News of Saturday, 28 August 2021Source: www.ghanaweb.comAs part of her 44th birthday celebration, Obuobia Darko-Opoku, the Deputy Director of Communications for the opposition National Democratic Congress last Sunday donated items to the Akropong School for the Blind. Students and management of the school took delivery of items such as 200 packs of hot meals, two Rambo 1000 poly tanks, water pumping machines, 55 bags of rice, 20 bags of sugar, 15 gallons of oil and 9 boxes of Spaghetti. In a post on her Facebook page, Obuobia Darko-Opoku disclosed that instead of worshipping at her usual place, she opted to fellowship with the school. Aided by the presence of the ever-greeen Winneba Youth Choir, Obuobia who was in the company of her mother and two sons shared the joy of her birthday with the student. She was awed by the musical talents displayed by the students, stressing that these students “do not only have among them powerful and spirit-filled preachers but also a collection of talented singers with great voices and also instrumentalists.”“I had so much wanted to spend my birthday morning with them, and I am very happy I was able to”, she added.

MTTD impounds thirty-one vehicles for various traffic offences
General News of Sunday, 29 August 2021Source: GNAThe Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) on Friday impounded thirty-one vehicles for various traffic offences on the Kpone-Dawenya stretch of the N1 highway. The exercise is also to curb the blatant disregard for road traffic regulations by some road users. It said the operation would further reduce road traffic accidents and its related deaths, injuries and damage to properties on our roads. Some of the arrested drivers were driving commercial vehicles, Ministries, Department and Agencies vehicles (MDAs), corporate entities vehicles, and privately owned vehicles. The brief advised the motoring public to abide by road traffic regulations at all times to promote road safety.

Dorcas Afo-Toffey seized the opportunity to promise to construct a new six-unit classroom block to replace the deplorable existing wooden structure to improve academic excellence in the school. Mr. Cletus Azupe, the headmaster of the school, gave thanks to the Jomoro MP for her kind gesture.

Pastor in court for allegedly impregnating wife of church member under guise of deliverance
In her statement of claim to the court, Regina Ankrah indicated that the said amorous relationship started in 2014 when she was introduced to the church by her fiance at the time, now her ex-husband. The woman became pregnant in the process and her husband who was not responsible, took the case to court for a divorce which was granted. The pastor during this period accepted responsibility and promised to marry the plaintiff (Regina) after the divorce. Dailyguidenetwork indicates that the relationship got bad when the pastor began to allegedly neglect his paternal responsibilities for which reason the plaintiff took the case to court. The case, according to Dailyguidenetwork, is currently before the Takoradi Circuit Court B in the Western Region.

2 heroic young boys save taxi driver from drowning in Kumasi floods
Onlookers who could be heard in the video, majority of who were women, were screaming, wailing and praying for some form of help for the taxi driver. Then came the two young boys who rushed to the scene. In what appeared to be some form of communication with the taxi driver, the latter raised both arms as if to draw the attention of his would-be heroes. The bold action by the two young boys sparked praises from the women as well as social media commentators as the video has since gone viral. Nuclear safety and security assured as Ghana journeys towards energy mix

This has earned the country a number of commendations and support from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and other international bodies, since it opted to include Nuclear Power generation in the nation’s energy mix. Dr Henry Cecil Odoi, the Manager of the Miniature Neutron Source Reactor (MNRSR) Centre, also known as the Ghana Nuclear Reactor-1 (GHARR-1), addressing a visiting team of Regional Managers and Editors from the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra, said high safety and security were assured, as Ghana journeyed towards the adoption of nuclear power. This, Dr Odoi noted, demonstrated the high capacity and capabilities of the country’s nuclear scientific community to embrace other areas in nuclear science, including the nuclear power generation programme, which is being pursued currently. The NPG, a State-owned Organization established in 2018 as the Owner/Operator of Ghana’s proposed Nuclear Power Plant, is responsible for project development, project feasibility, construction, operation and decommissioning the Plant in compliance with international best practices.
