The ban has created challenges for those who use social media to share news or to promote their businesses. Until the ban was imposed, social media influencer and filmmaker Luna Solomon used the platforms to make advertisements for products and institutions. Church leaders and supporters then staged a protest and blacked out their social media pages to express solidarity. Vanhelleputte joins the telco from MTN Group , where he has been serving as Operations Executive since August 2022 . "We are pleased to announce the appointment of Wim Vanhelleputte as the Chief Executive Officer of the Safaricom Telecommunications Ethiopia PLC effective 1st September 2023 ," Safaricom announced on its LinkedIn page. Soussa, who is the founding CEO of Safaricom Ethiopia, led the establishment of the organization and the launch of mobile money services in the Horn of Africa country. The first aircraft will deliver to the Togolese carrier in June 2023, followed by the other in August. However, the ch-aviation fleets ownership module shows that AerCap owns fifty-two delivered B737-8s, of which only two are currently unassigned to an airline. The aircraft were delivered to the Chinese operator in 2018 and were retired after the March 2019 grounding of the type, according to the ch-aviation fleets history module. ASKY Airlines currently operates four B737-700s and eight B737-800s.

As of now, narrow-body aircraft are functional at the terminal, and wide-body aircraft will also be operated shortly. After the full-fledged operations commence at the airport’s integrated terminal, the old international terminal — where some of the arrival operations alone have been continuing till now — will be pulled down, and work to construct the remaining parts of the integrated terminal will begin subsequently.
