The Council of Ministers of Ethiopia today approved two regulations to create the capacity of domestic vaccine production. Vaccines donationsIn addition to purchasing and importing vaccines, the Government of Ethiopia also has been receiving vaccines donations from different donors. One notable example of vaccine donations to Ethiopia is the Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, which is a global health partnership that aims to increase access to immunization in low-income countries. Vaccine donations are often part of broader health assistance programs, making it difficult to isolate the specific value of vaccines alone. Generally speaking, Ethiopia has received significant vaccine donations from various donor organizations and countries over the years.

The ministers urged the EU to work out mechanisms that will get Ukrainian grain and other food to their destinations without hurting the agricultural industry in transit countries. “Today the EU should build proper law and infrastructure tools to regulate transport of Ukraine grain in the long term,” Telus said. Telus said the EU ban has bought “unexpectedly good effects to us all,” saying figures show a doubling of Ukrainian grain moving through Poland this year. More than 45 million metric tons of grain, oilseeds and other products have been exported through Europe, von der Leyen said. Von der Leyen stressed that it was “important that the blocking of the Black Sea is stopped” and that exports can continue via that route.

The Mount Kisco Planning Board appears likely to take a vote on the controversial cell tower proposal next month after receiving a draft resolution last week that outlines 59 detailed conditions the applicant must follow. Board Co-chair Michael McGuirk expressed the sentiment of the remaining members stating that he didn’t want to move forward without reading the resolution. It also mentioned how the village, after intense community opposition, decided against placing a tower in Leonard Park. The project would force the removal of 43 trees, but the Planning Board is requiring 75 replacement trees be planted. Homeland Towers would pay into the village’s tree fund an unspecified amount to cover the 11-tree deficit.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that he plans to engage with member federations to make sure that the $30,000 payments designated for every player at the Women's World Cup reach the athletes. Infantino said that the Women's World Cup is expected to generate a half-billion in revenue — despite the prize money boost — and the organization will break even. For the first time, the commercial rights for the Women's World Cup were sold separately from the men's tournament. The prize pool is more than three times the $30 million prize fund FIFA paid out at the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France. Infantino said the goal is to equalize the prize money by the 2026 men's World Cup and the 2027 women's edition.

Ethiopia is allowing people to access Facebook, Telegram, TikTok and YouTube for the first time in more than five months. The blackout was imposed on 9 February this year after tensions between the Ethiopian Orthodox Church and the government. Only those with access to virtual private network (VPN) software could get on to the social media platforms - something that cost them additional data. According to the Internet Society, the outage has cost Ethiopia $42m (£32m) because of the knock-on effect on businesses. Some areas of the northern region of Tigray, where a brutal two-year conflict came to an end last November, remain without access to the internet.
