The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says Botswana’s economic growth is expected to slow to 3.8 percent in 2023 from 5.8 percent in 2022 “due to the projected decline in diamond production and the weaker global environment”. The statement recalled that the economy of Botswana grew almost 12 percent growth in 2021. In Botswana country report the IMF released today it is stated that total state owned enterprises (SOE) assets amounted to 32 percent of GDP in 2021. “Financial SOEs account for 14 percent of total assets, comprised of the Botswana Development Corporation (BDC), National Development Bank (NDB), Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE), and Botswana Savings Bank (BSB). ROME (AP) — Italian police on Thursday took into custody in Pakistan a Pakistani man who is on trial in Italy for the murder of his daughter after she refused family demands to marry a cousin in their homeland. Abbas’ uncle, two cousins, her father, Shabbir Abbas, and her mother went on trial in February 2023. His return to Italy on the murder charge underscores Italy’s resolve to prosecute those who violate Italian laws against forced marriage. According to Italian investigators, that kiss enraged Abbas’ parents, who wanted her to marry a cousin in Pakistan. In 2019, Italy made coercing an Italian citizen or resident into marriage, even abroad, a crime covered under domestic violence laws.

Gray explained that Roberta Bowman Denning and Steve Denning, alumni of Stanford's Business School, funded both the construction of the building and the art collection. Constructed five years ago, Denning House is a home-away-from-home for students from all over the world who enjoy its unique architectural design and world-class art collection. The process by which art is acquired entails using outside art consultants Zlot/Buell Art Advisors, who vet potential artists and present their work to a committee. Seated on the committee are selected Denning House staff, Roberta Denning and her son Robert, John Hennessy and Veronica Roberts, director of the Cantor Arts Center, among others. Adams, while not of a Jewish background or faith, has had ties to the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community in Brooklyn going back to his senator days in 2012. Adams also had Jewish community leaders named in his administration, on various committees, and on his transition team. Considering his history, it makes sense that his trip to Israel would focus on public safety and Israeli security technology as well as soaking up the local culture. The trip was sponsored by UJA-Federation of New York in partnership with the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York. In media briefs during the trip, Adams discussed his visits with the National Police Academy, the Israeli Security Agency/Shabak, and the Security Technology Showcase.

In 2006, when the British mathematician Clive Humby declared that “data is the new oil”, his words might have been met with bemusement in the Middle East. The growth of the Middle East’s digital economy is advancing with breath-taking speed, according to new research by the Swiss bank UBS. Despite the dizzying growth figures, however, there remain extraordinary challenges in realising the vision of a digital Middle East. While the Gulf countries and in particular the UAE embraced digitisation and set a robust infrastructure years ago, many of the region’s countries remain weak, unstable and underdeveloped. But it is unlikely that the Gulf countries’ embrace digital economy will turn out to be a regional exception.

Professor Alemayehu pointed out that the government has been able to employ on an annual basis only 2.4 million or 6 percent of the job-seeking population for the past several years. Professor Alemayehu told Ethio-FM 107.8 Radio that the source of the country’s growth is the social sector that does not get job opportunities. Alemayehu further pointed out that the source of the country’s growth and the economic sector that can create jobs are not aligned. That is the main reason for the high unemployment rate observed in the country. Professor Alemayehu further said that if the economic sector that can create jobs was the main source of growth in the country, the unemployment rate could have been reduced.
