The Finance Minister welcomed the delegation on their visit to Pakistan and said that Pakistan highly values its bilateral ties with Ethiopia including trade and economic relations. Dr Shamshad Akhtar briefed the delegates on the latest economic developments, fiscal policy adjustments, and tax reforms undertaken by the Caretaker government. The delegation was greatly impressed by Pakistan's effective resolution of economic challenges and expressed their keen interest in learning from the country's experiences. The meeting was attended by Governor State Bank Jameel Ahmed, FBR Chairman Amjad Zubair Tiwana and Secretary Finance Imdad Bosal.

On 28 April, the Ethiopian Joint Security and Intelligence Task Force announced that it started "taking decisive measures" against "extremist forces" that it accused of "trying to take control of regional state power by destroying the constitutional order in the Amhara regional state." The Amhara regional state has since been the epicenter of the latest militarized conflict involving government forces armed groups that swept large parts of the regional state.

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan and Ethiopia have agreed to pursue the twinning of their cities and promote tourist exchange besides underscoring enhanced cooperation in the field of medicine and agricultural education. The bilateral cooperation was discussed as Pakistan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and African Union Atif Sharif visited the historic Ethiopian city of Aksum in Tigray where he also met City Mayor Abeve. The ambassador and mayor agreed to pursue the twinning of Aksum with a Pakistani city and to promote tourist exchange. The ambassador, who visited the IDPs living in a school, also held an interaction with the President of Aksum University Professor Gebreyesus Brhane. The professor showed keen interest in collaborating with Pakistani universities in STEM, medicine, and agricultural education.

Boeing's latest incident involving an Alaska Airlines door plug has put the company's credibility in question following a string of tragic accidents involving 737 Max planes. Samya was one of 157 people killed in March 2019 on board a Boeing 737 Max plane that crashed shortly after takeoff in Ethiopia. "There have been over 20 serious quality defects on Max planes. Since the incident, shareholders have also filed a lawsuit against Boeing, claiming the company prioritized profits over safety. And now we know that they have had many manufacturing defects in these infamous Boeing Max aircraft."

In 2022, Africa had around 570 million internet users, of which 384 million (67 percent) were social media users. “As the users increase, reports from social media companies indicate the rise of harmful, illegal or offensive content on the platforms,” CIPESA stated.
