Nicholas deluges U.S. Gulf Coast with heavy rain, flooding
TEXAS CITY, Texas (Reuters) -Tropical Storm Nicholas moved slowly through the Gulf Coast on Tuesday, drenching Texas and Louisiana with torrential rain, flooding streets and leaving hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses without power. Isolated areas of the Upper Texas Coast and southern Louisiana could see up to 5 inches. “It’s vital that we have as many resources as possible to respond to the forecasted heavy rainfall, potential for flash flooding & river flooding across Central & South Louisiana. By late afternoon more than 94,000 customers in Louisiana and 186,000 in Texas remained without power, according to a Reuters tally. Although Hurricane Ida knocked a significant amount of refining capacity offline in the Gulf Coast earlier this month, Texas refineries remained operating as of early Tuesday.

Walmart says looking into fake press release on litecoin tie-up
By Uday Sampath Kumar(Reuters) -Walmart Inc said on Monday it was looking into how a fake press statement announcing a partnership with litecoin, which briefly led to near 30% gains in the cryptocurrency, was issued by news release distributor GlobeNewswire. The fake press release touting the acceptance of litecoin as online payment by the world’s largest retailer led to a sudden spike in its prices, but the gains faded quickly after Walmart issued a statement saying the press release was fraudulent. “Walmart had no knowledge of the press release issued by GlobeNewswire and there is no truth to it. Walmart has no relationship with litecoin,” a company spokesperson told Reuters. Separately, the Litecoin Foundation said in a Twitter post it had no information on where the news release had originated.

This week's average is 5 cents higher than a month ago and 95 cents higher than on this date a year ago. Massachusetts’ average gas price is 8 cents lower than the national average. “While there may be some price fluctuation, we expect most motorists to see stability at the pump.”The cheapest price for a gallon of unleaded gas in MetroWest is $2.89 at a Mobil station on Belmont Street (Rte. 9) in Northborough, according to gasbuddy.com.
