"The Mass General transplant team is deeply saddened at the sudden passing of Mr. Rick Slayman," the hospital said in a statement on Saturday. Slayman had received a transplant of a human kidney at the same hospital in 2018 after seven years on dialysis, but the organ failed after five years and he had resumed dialysis treatments. The kidney was provided by eGenesis of Cambridge, Massachusetts, from a pig that had been genetically edited to remove genes harmful to a human recipient and add certain human genes to improve compatibility, according to the hospital. NYU surgeons had previously transplanted pig kidneys into brain-dead people. A University of Maryland team in January 2022 transplanted a genetically modified pig heart into a 57-year-old man with terminal heart disease, but he died two months later.

And Sunday, when the juniors shackled the Big Ten’s leading offense in a game – and series – the Huskers had to have. NU beat Indiana 4-2 on Sunday afternoon in Big Red’s second white-knuckle win over the Hoosiers in 17 hours. Nebraska secured an 11th winning weekend in 13 tries while ending the Hoosiers’ streak of taking five straight league series. Indiana (28-21-1, 13-8) worked its way back against Brockett, the NU lefty making his first Sunday start of the spring. Christo took the proverbial baton the rest of the way for his second victory this spring.

In his quest to improve Nebraska football’s special teams units, Ed Foley jumped in a golf cart and sped off. That level of urgency was commonplace this spring for a Nebraska special teams unit that has room for improvement in 2024. Foley reunited with Rhule in 2019 as a special teams analyst at Baylor then worked as an assistant special teams coach on the Carolina Panthers over the next two seasons. Foley’s annual salary of $550,000 is tied for the ninth-highest nationally among special teams coordinators according to FootballScoop. “We definitely have the personnel to have a really big advantage on special teams,” Buschini said last month.

My Encampment VisitsI have been to the Cornell pro-Palestinian encampment a handful of times, and I have seen nothing that demands dismantling it, especially with end of term approaching. If I may borrow a quote from a Cornell student that appeared in the New York Times: “[A] 27-year-old Ph.D. candidate in cell and molecular biology at Cornell, pointed to the name of the student group she is affiliated with: the Coalition for Mutual Liberation. Most of these students know almost nothing about the history of Israel and Palestine or have a skewed, uninformed view of that history. ConclusionYes, it is troubling that the permit for the Cornell encampment was obtained under false pretenses and that the encampment leaders will not move to a designated area. Not much goes on in our little town without it eventually being discussed at the local hair salon. I love my town, I love the people in it. I also think as a community we have been doing great at that for years without the meddling of the town council. Flags are great, but I think they should represent the community as a whole, not in part. I don’t think we need expensive flags or stickers or crosswalk paintings to tell us how to treat one another.

If you want a baby, be prepared for postpartum depression and/or anxiety. Because I had never heard much about perinatal mental health disorders, I didn’t know I was suffering from postpartum depression and anxiety after the birth of my daughter Jordyn, 11. That is part of why only 25% of women with postpartum depression ever get treatment. It wasn’t until I stumbled onto a website about postpartum depression that I finally felt a sense of relief, a burden lifted off my shoulders. My mother never said anything to me about postpartum depression or anxiety because no one ever said anything to her about it.

They are Abu Bakr, 4, and his cousin Yasin, 5, who was identified with a single name.
