The Norris boys golf team held off a charge from the host school to win its second Class B state title in the last three years Wednesday in Scottsbluff. Norris finished with a two-day total of 630, good for a five-shot win over Scottsbluff. Freshman David Watson led the Warriors, finishing in a tie for 30th with a two-day total of 167. Class CDefending champion Kearney Catholic won again, barely, in a Class C championship shortened to 18 holes because of Tuesday's bad weather. Class DOverton made it two Class D titles in three years with an 11-shot win at Lake Maloney Golf Club in North Platte.

The Election Commission has suspended Upazila Parishad elections in Narsingdi’s Raipura, scheduled to be held on May 29, during the third phase of the local government polls. Dhaka Region Additional Election Officer and Raipura Upazila Returning Officer Md Mosharaf Hossain said the commission suspended the polls in Narsingdi’s Raipura Upazila over the death of Sumon Mia, the vice chairman candidate running under the lock symbol. Earlier on Wednesday, Sumon and his supporters came under attack while campaigning in the remote Mamderkandi area in Paratali Union. The supporters of Abid Hasan Rubel, another vice chairman candidate with the optical glasses symbol, were alleged over the incident. A total of five chairman candidates, three vice chairman candidates and two female vice chairman candidates were vying for the posts in Raipura Upazila.

DHAKA May 23, 2024 (BSS) - The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) today ordered two then directors of International Leasing and Financial Service Basudeb Banerjee and his wife Papia Banerjee, alleged associates of Prasanta Kumar Halder alias PK Halder, to surrender before a trial court within June 4. An Appellate Division bench headed by Justice M Enayetur Rahim passed the order, disposing of a plea of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). A High Court division bench on May 9 granted them six-week anticipatory bail, making the ACC to appeal against the order with the Appellate Division. The Appellate Division chamber judge court on May 13 stayed the High Court bail order and asked the two accused to surrender before trial court within two weeks. The defence however, pleaded for adjusting and subsequently withdrawing the chamber court order.
