The Northeast Delhi constituency elected a BJP lawmaker in the past two national elections, in 2014 and 2019. It's difficult that the BJP will garner any votes here," said Mansuri, in a thought echoed by voters in Mustafabad, including some Hindus. "But if he thinks Muslims will vote for him despite these speeches, then he is mistaken."

In Bangladesh, our journey for advancement is with the people of different religious faiths," she said. The premier said while exchanging pleasantries with the country's Buddhist religious leaders and eminent personalities of Buddhist community on the Buddha Purnima, the biggest religious festival of the Buddhist community, at Ganabhaban here. The prime minister also referred to setting up of place of worships for different religious faiths apart from Muslim in the country. Sitting in the place of religious worship, they can also practice religious ritual and learn applied necessity.

New militant outfit Shahadat emerges from dormant Ansar al-Islam: RAB
A new militant group called ‘Shahadat’ has emerged from the banned Islamist outfit Ansar al-Islam, the Rapid Action Battalion says after arresting three of its members, reports bdnews24.com. The detainees were identified as Md Ismail Hossain (25), Md Jihad Hossain alias Huzaifa (24) and Md Aminul Islam (25). In a press conference at the Karwan Bazar media centre, Commander Arafat said that the activities of Ansar al-Islam have almost come to an impasse due to regular operations by the RAB and other law enforcers. "As part of a strategy, Ansar al-Islam members are operating under the name of a new militant organisation called 'Shahadat'." A year ago, he contacted a militant named Salahuddin, who is living abroad, through social media, the RAB said at the press conference.

China ends war games, Taiwan details warplane, warship surge

China has over the past four years regularly staged military activities around Taiwan, including large-scale war games in 2022 and in 2023.

Daughter demands body of Bangladesh MP Anar killed in India
The demonstrators demanded justice for the MP and the recovery of the body. Police in Bangladesh arrested three suspects – Amanulla Sayeed alias Shimul Bhuiyan alias Shihab aka Fazl Mohammad Bhuiyan, 56, Tanvir Bhuiyan, 30, and Celesty Rahman, 22 – over the murder of the MP. The mastermind behind the killing, Akhtaruzzaman alias Shahin Mia - a naturalised US citizen - had fled to America, police said. Mumtarin demanded that police also arrest Akhtaruzzaman’s brother Shahiduzzaman Selim, mayor of Kotchandpur Municipality in Jhenaidah. “If he is arrested and interrogated, it will be possible to quickly arrest his murderer brother Shahin,” she said.

A banner hanging above their head said “GOVERNOR POLIS TURNED HIS BACK ON US.” Expletives flowed freely.
