A new name is on Nebraska’s radar in its quest to add an experienced receiver from the transfer portal. Former Texas wideout Isaiah Neyor will officially visit the Huskers this weekend according to reports from multiple recruiting sites. Neyor — once a 2019 two-star prospect from Arlington (Texas) Lamar High School — earned his reputation as a big-play threat while with the Cowboys. It hosted Ohio State transfer Julian Fleming for a visit last month, though Fleming appears to be a Penn State lean. Former Wake Forest receiver Jahmal Banks last week had indicated a trip to Nebraska was potentially in the works.

S. Korean opposition leader 'could have been killed' by knife attack: partySEOUL, Jan 3, 2024 (BSS/AFP) - South Korean opposition leader Lee Jae-myung narrowly escaped death when he was stabbed in the neck, a party lawmaker said Wednesday, as police were granted a warrant to search his assailant's property. "Busan medical staff stated that if the attacker's knife had struck Lee's carotid artery he could have been killed instantly at the scene," Democratic Party lawmaker Jung Chung-rae said during a party meeting Wednesday. "The assailant's confession that he had meant to kill is utterly shocking," lawmaker Jung said. In footage aired on South Korean television stations, police were seen wrestling the suspect, who displayed a pro-Lee slogan, to the ground. Several high-profile South Korean politicians have been attacked in public in past years.

The Election Commission had initially estimated the spending for the 12th parliamentary polls at Tk 15 billion, but the total figure is now expected to cross Tk 20 billion. EC Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath said on Tuesday the cost of the Jan 7 election may even exceed Tk 22 billion. The sum includes more than Tk 12 billion for the law-enforcing agencies to maintain order, and over Tk 10.5 billion to conduct the polls, reports bdnews24.com. As the number of voters has increased to nearly 120 million, the EC needed to throw up more polling stations and raise the allocation for security while the allowance for election officials has increased, said Ashok. Finance Secretary Md Khairuzzaman Mozumder said they increased the allocation for the election by 20 per cent compared with the last parliamentary polls.

BEIRUT, Jan 3, 2024 (BSS/AFP) - Lebanon's Iran-backed Hezbollah group warned that Israel's killing Tuesday of the deputy Hamas leader in a Beirut suburb they control "will not go unanswered or unpunished". An Israeli strike killed Saleh al-Aruri, deputy head of the Hamas movement, in a southern Beirut stronghold of Hamas ally Hezbollah, two security officials told AFP. Hamas, at war with Israel in the Gaza Strip for almost three months, later confirmed Aruri's death which Lebanese state media said came in an Israeli drone strike that killed a total of six people. Hezbollah has engaged in near-daily cross-border clashes with Israel since Israel's war with Hamas began in October. Hezbollah said the strike that killed Aruri was "in continuation with... the assassination of commander Razi Moussavi."
