Khulna University (KU) has published the results of the admission tests for the four units of the first-year undergraduate (honors) programs for the 2025–2026 academic session. The results were released on Monday noon on the university’s official admission website. Candidates can check their results by logging into their individual profiles at http://apply.ku.ac.bd/Students included in the merit list must complete their online discipline preference selection from January 1 to January 3. The final discipline-wise results will be published on January 8, while admission from the merit list will be conducted on January 12 and 13, from 9:30am to 5:00pm. Earlier, a meeting was held on Monday morning to approve the results, chaired by Vice-Chancellor and President of the Central Admission Committee Professor Dr Md Rezaul Karim.

A fire broke out at a Rohingya camp in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, late Sunday night, destroying more than 25 homes. According to sources, at least 25 houses were gutted in the blaze, which started around 10:30pm at Rohingya camps 24 and 25 in the Leda and Alikhali areas of Hnila Union. Mohammad Alam, president of the Leda Development Management Committee in Teknaf, told Dhaka Tribune that preliminary reports suggest the fire originated in the house of a camp resident, Fatema Akter, possibly due to a mobile phone charger explosion. Syed Alam, a resident of the Leda Rohingya camp, said the fire spread rapidly to several houses. Another resident, Nur Akm Md Alam, said the blaze began in a hut inside the camp.

DHAKA, Dec 29, 2025 (BSS) – Stocks today witnessed lackluster trading activity as investors mostly stayed on the sidelines and remained watchful of the market’s momentum amid unfolding signals on the political front surrounding the upcoming national elections. Meanwhile, DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), remained subdued for the second consecutive session, shedding 7.4 points to settle at 4,862 points as against 4,869 points in the previous trading session. Apparently, market turnover declined further by 19.5% to Taka 3.1 billion from Taka 3.9 billion in the previous session, reflecting the prevailing risk-averse stance among market participants. On the sectoral front, Textile (17.6%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Bank (14.1%) and Food (11.2%) sectors. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declined by 20.4 points and 35.4 points, respectively.

File PhotoDHAKA, Dec 29, 2025 (BSS)- Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) today submitted charge sheet against PK Halder and 18 others for embezzling Taka 4.4 billion in the name of a fictitious company. Mohammad Tanjir Ahmed, Assistant Director of the ACC told this to journalists at the commission headquarters here. According to the ACC, a loan of Taka 4.4 billion was taken in 2014 from the FAS Finance and Investment Limited for a six-year term showing a fictitious company named Diya Shipping Limited. The loan was approved at the 163rd meeting of the board of directors of the FAS Finance on December 22 in 2014. The ACC stated that the evidence has been found showing the involvement of members of the PK Halder syndicate in the embezzlement and money laundering.

The court, however, on December 20, ordered the inclusion of Section 302 (murder) of the Penal Code in the case, converting it into a murder case following Hadi’s death on December 18.

Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman Anwar Hossain Manju has withdrawn from the parliamentary elections, choosing not to submit his nomination papers. He had collected nomination papers for the Pirojpur-2 constituency but ultimately decided against contesting. Speaking on Monday, the last day of submission, the former minister said: “I had picked up nomination papers to contest the Pirojpur-2 seat, which includes Kawkhali, Bhandaria and Nesarabad Upazilas. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam on Monday instructed field-level police officers to maintain law and order at any cost, giving the highest priority to the upcoming national election. Addressing the monthly crime review meeting at the Police Headquarters, the IGP emphasised that any election-related disorder must be met with immediate and strict legal action. “Pre-election law and order is of paramount importance.
