State Minister for Power Nasrul Hamid says he wants to personally encourage the use of battery-run autorickshaws despite the many complaints against them. Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud has highlighted several unresolved issues, such as the killing of a Bangladeshi border guard and the Teesta water-sharing deal in a discussion with his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar. “There should be a solution [to the water-sharing deal] after the Indian general election,” he told the media at a discussion in Delhi on Thursday. Border Guard Bangladesh has taken around 101 members of Myanmar’s Border Guard Police to Teknaf’s Nhila Union after they fled to Bangladesh through the Naikhongchhari border in Bandarban. The BGP personnel were taken closer to the coast amid talks with Myanmar to repatriate the fleeing border guards through the country’s water route. “A total of 330 people have taken refuge in Bangladesh so far following the clashes between Myanmar’s military forces and armed insurgents. Around 100 of them have been taken from Tumbru to Nhila in consideration of the administrative facilities,” BGB spokesman Shariful Islam said.

Myanmar border guards, who fled the country to Bangladesh amid heavy junta-rebel clashes, are being transferred under armed escort from Bandarban to Teknaf on Thursday. — bdnews24.comMyanmar is sending ship to take home its border guards and army personnel who fled Rakhine state to Bangladesh following the Arakan Army assault early this week. "We are in the process of finalising the sea route through which a Myanmar ship will take back these personnel," said foreign ministry spokesperson Seheli Sabrin during a weekly briefing. Ms Sabrin said the ship would cruise through deep sea to avoid the area close to the Bangladesh-Myanmar border where infighting was raging between Myanmar state forces and the militia. Responding to a query, the spokesperson said the Myanmar security personnel were provided shelter as per international law following disarmament immediately after their arrival here.
