Bangladeshis fret over unconfirmed return of Rohingya militant Nabi Hossain amid Myanmar conflict
Locals suspect the 23 armed Rohingya men captured and handed to Ukhiya police by the BGB belong to Nabi’s group. Speaking to bdnews24.com Ukhiya Police Station chief Shamim Hossain could not confirm which group the Rohingya militants belong to. They believe more members of Nabi’s group ARA crossed the border than those caught. Rahmater Beel, the village through which the Rohingya men entered Bangladesh, is a kilometre away from Balukhali, which houses a large refugee camp. Danu Mia, a bus supervisor residing in Dakkhinpara, said locals were afraid of fishing in the Naff river because of Nabi’s men.

Unexploded rocket with launcher found along Bangladesh border with Myanmar
An unexploded rocket with a launcher has been found in a paddy field near Tumbru border in Bandarban’s Naikhongchhari Upazila amid infiltration by Myanmar security forces during fighting with rebels. A local woman discovered the launcher on Friday afternoon while working in the paddy field. AKM Jahangir Aziz, chairman of Ghumdhum Union Council, told bdnews24.com the higher-ups were informed about the launcher after the residents reported it. Ghumdum’s police have said that the Border Guard Bangladesh is looking into the matter. BGB personnel cordoned off the road from Ghumdhum to Tumbru with bamboo and red flags following the incident on Friday.

She made the statement when Bangladesh Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud called on her at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Friday, her office said in a post on X. “The President said that a strong, stable and prosperous Bangladesh is in India's interest, and there is immense political will on both sides to see the relationship grow,” the Rashtrapati Bhavan said in the post. The Indian president praised Hasina as a ‘strong lady’ and congratulated her on her fifth election victory – fourth in a row, Mahmud said. In a statement, the President’s Secretariat said Murmu expressed confidence that under Hasina’s leadership, Bangladesh will achieve new milestones of progress and prosperity. Murmu said all the women in South Asia should be proud of Hasina for her capability and leadership, according to the foreign minister.

Jordy Bahl exits Nebraska softball debut with injury as Huskers lose to Washington
A season opener that began with great excitement quickly turned to concern for the Nebraska softball team. Junior pitcher Jordy Bahl, making her Husker debut after two All-American seasons at Oklahoma, exited Thursday's game against Washington in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, after suffering an apparent ankle injury in the third inning. Prior to Bahl’s injury, Nebraska was battling every step of the way against a team that made the Women’s College World Series last year. A hit by pitch quickly turned into a run when Washington’s Alana Johnson stole second base, advanced to third on a wild pitch and then scored on a softly hit infield single. Washington pitcher Ruby Meylan, a former Omaha Skutt standout who was club teammates with Bahl in high school, recorded three strikeouts and earned the win.

Bangladesh arrests 23 armed Rohingya trespassers from Myanmar
Police have arrested 23 armed Rohingya men who were caught by Border Guard Bangladesh after trespassing from Myanmar amid fighting between the military and rebels. Police were taking legal action against them and trying to find out why the registered residents of refugee camps had crossed the border into Myanmar, said Mahfuzul Islam, superintendent of police in the district. A case was started against them at Ukhiya Police Station in Cox’s Bazar after their arrest on Friday. The refugees carrying 12 arms and ammunition entered Bangladesh through different points, according to Mahfuzul.
