This is because of the “faulty” tobacco tax structure. Economist Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, convenor of the National Anti-Tobacco Platform, said: "There is no alternative to strong tobacco tax and price measures to achieve a tobacco-free Bangladesh. The speakers also said that the implementation of the budget proposals would generate Tk 100 billion as additional revenue.

Worker dies after pickup overturns in Bandarban
BANDARBAN, May 22, 2024 (BSS) - A laborer was killed and seven others were injured after a pickup van overturned in Badratila area of Faitang Union under Lama Upazila of the district today. The deceased was identified as Md Jahangir, 22, resident of Chakria of Harbang Lalbridge area of the district. The accident occurred in the area when the driver of the pickup van, carrying 15 workers, lost control over the steering of the vehicle as he was climbing a hill and overturned on the road, leaving Jahangir dead on the spot and seven others critically injured, officer-in-charge of Faitang Police station Fari Md Mofiz said. The injured were taken to Upazila Health Complex, he said. Police recovered the body from the spot and handed over the family members, he added.

11,000 farmers empowered to adopt eco-friendly agricultural processes
Standard Chartered Bangladesh has partnered with Thengamara Mohila Sabuj Sangha (TMSS) to facilitate 11,000 farmers in adopting polyhouse farming across Bogura, Joypurhat, Sirajganj, Natore, Pabna, and Rajshahi. This initiative aims to introduce an eco-friendly agricultural practice that allows for year-round cultivation, independent of external conditions. The collaboration will provide resources for polyhouse development and training to enhance crop yield and quality, thus fostering income generation. The project's goal is to establish polyhouse farming structures for the cultivation of high-value vegetables and fruits, thereby empowering farmers to overcome climate challenges and economic uncertainty. Professor Dr. Hosne-Ara Begum, Founder of TMSS, emphasized the project's aim to enhance high-value crop farming in drought-prone areas through modern farming methods, thereby improving the economic condition of farmers.

Just Cause means employers, not just workers, are held accountable, and establishes a local commission to review possible violations. Yet somehow, more than four decades later, the US still has no federal or even state policy regarding just cause employment, despite the fact that worker support for just cause is bipartisan. In Ithaca, just cause employment is especially important due to skyrocketing rents and an increasing living wage (now $18.45). Just cause legislation has been introduced all over the country, and has existed in other countries for years, with no noticeable negative effects on business.

On Jan. 6th 2021, I went to D.C. to film what was occurring. Due this existential danger, it is time for Democrat Joe Biden to drop out of the presidential race. However, with so much on the line with a possible dictatorial government under Trump, the Democrats need to be much more strategic. However, the one issue that is going to be the ultimate disaster for Biden is his policy on Israel. A Biden win is off the table, and we need to face that harsh reality now.
