Despite this, the government will also be looking to follow a policy of gradually reducing the range and scope of its subsidies as a logical step, says State Minister for Planning Md Shahiduzzaman Sarker. Asked about taking the unpopular step at a time of rampant inflation, the state minister spoke about the capacity building of the Awami League government. The state minister’s comments give a brief glimpse into the government’s thinking on subsidies ahead of the budget for the coming fiscal year. But, under the circumstances, the state minister did not see anything bad about borrowing millions from abroad to fund development programmes in the country. Of the Tk 2.65 trillion allocated to the Annual Development Plan (ADP) in the upcoming budget, Tk 1 trillion, or 37.74 percent, will be coming from foreign sources.

A: This sounds like root rot, unfortunately, which would indeed mean that those individual plants are a lost cause. Ideally, you’re monitoring plants periodically for watering needs before wilting ever happens, but everyone has been caught off guard by a wilting plant now and then. Root rot is too advanced at that point.) Nothing can cure root rot once it sets in. Unfortunately, a wide array of popular annuals are vulnerable to root rot if kept too wet, such as flowering vinca, petunia and their calibrachoa cousins, fuchsia, marigold, pansies, dianthus (carnations) and celosia.

Hypocrisy, intolerance, and general narrow-mindedness seem to be what is left of modern political discourse, assisting the caustic factionalism that denies young Cornellians a fruitful political experience. Yet, amidst this disheartening reality, I found solace and inspiration in the Cornell Political Union because it is the very antithesis of this trend. While this year went far from smoothly, thank you to Cornell University for this Freedom of Expression theme year. Daniel Obaseki is a graduating senior in the College of Arts and Sciences and the President Emeritusof the Cornell Political Union. The Cornell Daily Sun is interested in publishing a broad and diverse set of content from the Cornell and greater Ithaca community.
