The MENA region's share of global LNG exports declined from 47% in 2013 to about 30% by 2020, as LNG exports from Australia and the US have grown. Qatar is the top LNG exporter in the MENA region, accounting for 70% of regional LNG exports in 2022. Algeria’s LNG exports have remained stable over the last 10 years, ranging from 1.3 billion ft3/d to 1.7 billion ft3/d. Most of the MENA region's LNG exports are shipped to South Asia and East Asia, which accounted for 65% (9.7 billion ft3/d) of the region’s LNG exports in 2022. In 2022, MENA’s exports to Europe averaged 4.5 billion ft3/d, 30% of the MENA region's total LNG exports.

Inspector General of Royal Armed Forces & Commander of the South Zone, Lt. General Mohamed Berrid, received Thursday in Rabat Jean Pierre Lacroix, UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations. No details were disclosed on the issues discussed during the meeting which comes after the talks held Wednesday by the UN official with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita. Speaking to journalists following his talks with Moroccan top diplomat, Mr. Lacroix thanked the Kingdom for its long-standing commitment and contributions of Royal Armed forces to UN peacekeeping operations. “We look to the future with Morocco,” he said, highlighting the challenges facing the UN in its peacekeeping operations. A joint geoscience mapping programme across Eswatini has entered its second phase as the Southern African nation looks to develop its energy and minerals sector. The EU on 28 November added the ‘SoutH2 Corridor’ to its ‘Projects of Common Interest’, giving the plans to pipe 4mn t/y of green hydrogen from North Africa to central and northern Europe potential access to funding from the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility as well as the promise of fast-track approval and implementation. The EU decision comes just days after German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni agreed to back the project during a meeting in Berlin. Snam included the project in its five-year strategy released earlier this year. Tunisian security forces have rounded up, in two separate operations, four terrorists condemned in absentia for pertaining to terror groups, Tunisie Numerique reports. The men had been condemned to one to seven years in prison for belonging to a terror group. The two men had been condemned in absentia to four years in prison for belonging to a terror group. Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh was chosen to host the 2030 World Expo, the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) announced on Tuesday. Riyadh needed only one round of voting and secured the necessary two-thirds majority of member States at the general assembly of Paris-based BIE. Riyadh won 119 votes, South Korea’s Busan 29, and Italian capital Rome 17, the BIE said in a press release. The Riyadh Expo is set to take place from October 2030 to March 2031 on the theme “The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow,” according to the Saudi bid. The most recent World Expo took place in 2020 in Dubai and the coming World Expo is due in 2025 in Osaka, Japan, on the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.”
