Industry and Trade Ministry's projects increase lossesTen out of 12 loss-making projects under the management of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) have continued falling in the negative numbers, the ministry’s report said. Ninh Binh fertilizer plant - one of 12 loss-making projects under the management of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Quy Xa iron ore mining and quarrying project, the Lao Cai iron and steel plant, and the DAP 1 Hai Phong fertilizer plant have all reported rising profits and falls in accumulated losses. Of this, their equity was VND14.4 trillion, accounting for 22.56 per cent, while loans made up 74.6 per cent, about VND47.5 trillion. Local bank loans for the projects amounted to VND41.8 trillion, including VND16.9 trillion from VDB.

Trial held for 28 former officials of Dai Tin BankThe Ho Chi Minh City People’s Court on May 8 opened the first trial for 28 former officials of Dai Tin Bank (Trust Bank) – predecessor of the Vietnam Construction Bank (VNCB) for "abusing trust to appropriate property" and "deliberately acting against State regulations on economic management and causing serious consequences". Vietnam Airlines increases Hanoi – Dong Hoi flightsNational flag carrier Vietnam Airlines said on May 8 it will increase service between Hanoi and Dong Hoi in central Quang Binh province up to seven flights per week to meet travel demand during this summer. The carrier will operate 6 or 7 flights per week on the Hanoi – Dong Hoi route between June 1 and August 31. The flight from Hanoi to Dong Hoi will depart 6:00 am from Tuesday to Sunday. Last year, Dong Hoi city of the province welcomed nearly 1.1 million visitors, up 29 percent year-on-year.
