Ministry of Finance proposes new environmental fees
HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Finance is calling for comments on a proposal to impose environmental fees on greenhouse-gas-emitting facilities, an effort to reduce their carbon footprint and incentivise greener practices. Under the proposal, the environmental fees are composed of two parts: a lump-sum part and a per-unit part. "We must not introduce new fees unless we are sure that current fees have produced their desired effects," said Long. He said vehicle owners had paid environmental fees once, which were factored into their fuel bills. "If they are made subject to the fees defined by the proposal, they would be paying overlapping environmental fees," said Bảo.

Vietnamese, Kazakh leaders visit ancient pottery village
The two leaders were introduced to the distinctive features of Chu Dau ceramics. They had an opportunity to admire unique ceramic products and visit workshops there. The two leaders congratulated Hai Duong province and the Chu Dau Ceramic JSC for successfully reviving valuable traditional ceramic products. Chu Dau ceramics are high-class Vietnamese ancient ceramics representing “the rice civilisation” dated from the 13th century and were honoured as “Royal symbolic products” at the end of 17th century. Currently, Chu Dau ceramic artworks are being preserved and exhibited in 46 renowned museums across 32 countries worldwide./.

The Bà Rịa Hospital on July 17 moved Bo to the HCM City Children Hospital No 2 for further treatment. Vietnam is represented by two teams: the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team 1 and the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team 2, both of which competed and achieved victories simultaneously.

Exhibition honours Vietnam’s traditional ceramic sculpture
The exhibition at the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum featured more than 30 ceramic works created by Tran Nam Tuoc, who has focused on sacred animals since he first became acquainted with pottery and ceramics more than 30 years ago. His ceramics impressed visitors thanks to his distinctive style in forming shapes and using colours of ceramic glaze. All illustrate Vietnam’s traditional culture and history. Born Tran Xuan Trieu in northern Thai Binh province, Tuoc nurtured a special interest in traditional folk culture present in numerous of temples and pagodas in his homeland. In 1996, Tuoc came to Bat Trang village in Hanoi, famous for its century-old ceramic history, to become an assistant at different workshops.

Shares to see technical recovery this week
HÀ NỘI - The market is expected to see a technical recovery this week and investors are advised to stop panic selling, experts said. Shares collapsed last Friday, falling to fifteen-month lows as a series of large-cap stocks plunged to their floor prices, suffering strong selling pressure throughout the trading session. Vietnamese professor honoured with UK’s Thomas Graham Prize 2023
- Prof. Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh, a Vietnamese lecturer at University College London (UCL) in the UK, has been honoured with the prestigious Thomas Graham Prize 2023 by the Royal Society of Chemical (RSC) - the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) consortium.The Thomas Graham is one of three noble awards of the SCI/RSC consortium to recognize and honour contemporary outstanding researchers for their research on formulation and colloid science.Talking to the Vietnam News Agency’s correspondents in the UK, Thanh said the Thomas Graham Award for colloidal science is a far-reaching recognition for the research in nano-materials technology that she has pursued throughout her 22-year career.She expressed her hope that this award will encourage and inspire young scientists in general to pursue their dreams, and contribute to improving the prestige of Vietnamese intellectuals and scientists in the international scientific community.Prof. Thanh is one of the world-renowned Vietnamese intellectuals, who is the first Vietnamese professor at UCL since 2013, and an academician of four specialised scientific institutes in the UK.
