"All actions against offending pages comply with Thai law. The premier was reacting against a Facebook statement concerning its action against those sensitive pages following a request from the Thai government. According to the statement, Facebook was committed to protecting and defending the rights of internet users and "preparing to legally challenge this request". Hours before the restrictions, Mr Pavin set up a new group with a similar name that gained more than half a million members in one day. To promote freedom of expression, I would do it," Mr Pavin told Reuters.

Christopher Nolan's 'Tenet' seen as saviour for cinemasChristopher Nolan's 'Tenet' is seen as the saviour of cinemas which have been hit badly by absence of audiences during the pandemicPARIS - It is the film of the summer -- the release that cinema operators, beset by coronavirus regulations around the world which have largely kept audiences at home, are praying will reboot the industry. That film is Christopher Nolan's "Tenet", a clever blockbuster that slips between espionage and science fiction. Disney, in contrast, canned its plan for a big screen release for its flagship "Mulan", preferring to run it on digital platforms. But Warner Bros have faith in Nolan's ability to pull in the crowds -- and with good reason. - 'Jump through the screen' -"Tenet" has everything to fulfil its mission.

When the coronavirus surfaced in the Raleigh-Durham area this spring, Target stores were ready for the sharp increase in online orders. Before the pandemic, Walmart, Target and many large retailers had already spent heavily to build e-commerce warehouses, mobile apps and delivery networks to compete with Amazon. Meanwhile, apparel spending rose at big-box stores such as Target and Walmart, which offer one-stop shopping, likely grabbing business from floundering competitors, say retail analysts. Walmart has increased store pickup and delivery slots by around 30% since February, executives said last week. Same-day pickup and delivery sales rose 270% in the most recent quarter.

Better ways to spend B22.5bn than on two subsAs I saw my Bangkok-bound train approaching Yala train station last week, I hoped the ride would be a perfect end to my nostalgic trip to the southern province, my second in recent years. When I stepped on the train, I was stunned by how everything looked and smelled exactly as it had 40 years ago. It's the same old train that had the signs that said: "When the train stops, don't use the toilet." (For those who keep saying that these low-income people don't pay tax, VAT is also a form of direct tax). The RTN also said Thailand actually needs six of the submarines, but it opted to acquire only three, worth 36 billion baht altogether.

Sink those submarinesThe burden of responsibility to the public falls on the 72-member House budget committee today. There is a clear reason why the committee should vote to sink the submarines. The navy's claim about deploying submarines in the South China Sea thus sounds far-fetched. Spending 22.5 billion baht of our national budget on submarines to deter non-existent threats does not count as one. The House budget committee must hold the larger national interest at heart and have the courage to sink the submarines.

Mr Somchai says new customers increased 30% in the second quarter as businesses were forced to depend on public cloud services. Digital transformation has been ongoing for two years, but the pandemic saw it spiral into a megatrend, Mr Somchai said. According to Mr Somchai, Thailand's enterprise software market is worth 43 billion baht, citing global research and advisory firm Gartner. The ERP market is more mature, but cloud-based ERP continues to grow. By 2023, the company's earnings could reach 1 billion baht driven by high demand for digital transformation among businesses pivoting towards cloud services and digital marketing.
