US Resident Al Shabaab Leader ArrestedJuly 26, 2017 - Abdirazaq Husain Tahliil, a top Al Shabaab leader arrested by Puntland and Galmudug security forces. In 2013, the Al Shabaab leader was sentenced to death by a Somali military court for possession of explosives in Galkayo. The al Shabaab commander is not a citizen of the United States,added the report. Al Shabaab has been able to carry out deadly bombings despite losing most of its territory to African Union peacekeepers supporting the Somali government. Several Security Council members said, it is difficult to defeat al Shabaab through military means alone.
