The world is still puzzling over his address to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday. “Today, I stand before the United Nations General Assembly to share the extraordinary progress we have made. He made plain that the basic concepts of sovereignty and eschewing interventionism are the fundamental pillars of his foreign policy. What progressives have dismissed as nationalism and populism is, in fact, a return to the sovereignty of the democratic nation state. But we “ask that you honor our sovereignty in return.”This is not unlike what we, Filipinos, and our President Duterte, have stressed in our pursuit of an independent foreign policy in the world.
