A historic photo taken before the Canterbury earthquakes shows Crusaders fans packed into the then Jade Stadium, wielding foam swords. How will the franchise get fans to move away from historic branding and accessories next year? If the "main focus" of the review wasn't the name, who on earth had the franchise big-wigs been talking to? I've also heard unconfirmed reports of at least one Muslim representative body advising the franchise not to change the name. A clean slate wouldn't have been popular, but it would have offered the club, and its committed fans, a way forward together.
