EMUs (electric multiple units) for suburban trains and coaches for metros will be manufactured at the coach factory in Maharashtra’s Latur district. New Delhi: The Indian Railways on Wednesday announced the setting up of a coach factory in Maharashtra’s Latur district to manufacture EMUs (electric multiple units) for suburban trains and coaches for metros. District Latur in the Marathwada region is one of the most backward areas of Maharashtra. “The existing coach factories were not aligned to modern coaches, needed especially to cater to the need of EMUs. The modern coach factory will help to increase the speed of railways and the move is highly encouraging for the national carrier.”
