Rahul Gandhi filed a fresh affidavit in the Supreme Court on Monday in response to the court's contempt notice against him for the "chowkidar chor hai" comment. Following this, the court had issued a criminal notice to Rahul, not amounting to an explanation but a formal response. Seconds after Rahul tendered his affidavit, the Centre moved a separate application to adjourn hearing on the review petitions. Senior advocate R Balasubramanium, appearing for the Centre, submitted that since the review petitions needed to be heard, it would like to file its response as well. The bench refused to pass any order, making it clear that both the contempt and the review petitions will be heard.
