A Quebec man who led a double life has been found guilty of two counts of perjury after a Toronto judge found he lied on stock exchange forms when he claimed he had no other identity or criminal record. Vanier was in fact born Carl Gagnon in Quebec, lived a good part of his adult life under that name, and has been convicted of more than 60 crimes, Thorburn said. His convictions, stretching back to 1984, are for offences ranging from bigamy to fraud, impersonation and theft. He ended up in a witness protection program in Quebec after testifying against members of the Hells Angels. He changed his name to Robert Vanier.
