Adventures in Public School gets poor marks in chemistry

If this Canadian comedy had a report card, it would contain an A for enthusiasm, a B-minus for creative writing and a D in chemistry. It’s trying hard, but the pieces don’t quite come together. So he decides to spend a week in public school to see what it’s like, taking the place of an ill student named Maria Sanchez. Greer and Doheny don’t quite mesh as mother-and-son material, and Liam seems to waver between socially awkward and too-cool-for-school as the plot requires. (I also gave that one “top marks for trying.”) Maybe a little summer school will give Rideout a real hit.
