Ontario's Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) wants to know who abandoned an ice fishing hut on Otter Lake. Conservation officers were patrolling the lake near Smiths Falls on Monday when they discovered the structure sinking into the thinning ice near a small island, according to the MNR's Anthony Beaucaire-Cameron. Beaucaire-Cameron said the hut could pose a safety risk to boaters this spring, especially if it breaks apart. "If [conditions are] not favorable, then you should probably try to get your ice hut off sooner to avoid things like this happening," he said. "In addition, they could be responsible for removing that ice hut from the bottom of the lake," he said.
