Marina suspends maritime training – The Manila Times

The deployment of some 5,000 seafarers may be delayed as the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) ordered all maritime training schools to suspend classes over the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) scare. Marina issued the order suspending maritime training courses in the National Capital Region in accordance with Presidential Proclamation 922 declaring a state of public health emergency because of the local transmission of the Covid-19. Narciso Vingson Jr. bared that maritime training courses could resume after March 14, 2020. Some training schools have expressed concern over the possible delay in the deployment of seafarers who are undergoing training. And so, we made an appeal if we could just have an online training,” a maritime training school official told The Manila Times.
