The government is considering adopting a four-day workweek for state workers and flexible-work arrangements for employees in the private sector to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), a Palace official said on Tuesday. Nograles said the government urged the private sector to avoid laying off workers, given the temporary nature of the Covid-19 outbreak. The Department of Health on Tuesday said the number of confirmed cases had increased to 33. Three of the patients had no travel history outside the country and had no contact to a virus carrier, the Health department said. In light of the increasing cases, Vergeire said the department was looking at available data to decide if there is community transmission.
