The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating after a man died in a house fire on the Mountain. On Monday at around 8:53 p.m., Hamilton Firefighters responded to a house fire at 20 Gillard Street. An officer from the Ontario Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire. While firefighters attacked the heart of the fire, a firefighter was also treated at the scene for heat exhaustion. The Hamilton Fire Service reports that a 47-year-old male occupant was rescued from the home without vital signs and died of his injuries.
